Don't be so sure sure sure:

They want to shorten it to 10 mins so there is less chance contestants will throw up partially eaten Nathan's hot dogs on national tv.

And I'm not the only one who believes it, as the line went from -115 to -245.

Who will complain? Will ESPN not televise it at 10 mins? no way.

wow
Major League Eating was recently presented with a document that suggests the original hot dog eating contest was 10 minutes in length.

The League sought preliminary verification of the document - which was found among numerous old items and ephemera in Brooklyn - and was told it is genuine.

Major League Eating has elected to conduct all qualifying rounds of the 2008 multi-city Nathan's Famous circuit tour as 10-minute competitions and may shift to this duration permanently, making it the official contest length. More information will follow.

I Watched the MID west regional at Mall of America last year, quite a sight.

Bingo. No chance in hell they wouldve honored it had the time been changed, nor should they.

Yes, they have it NOW, but MY under ticket, still valid and pending, does NOT say it must go 12 minutes....Hope others got in before the change. Obviously many did for the line to move that much!

With the risk of being called a girl, I have to say I'm really impressed with what these folks do... I'm a big guy, 6' - 275lbs, and after a night of partying a bunch of friends and I decided to go down to a Spike's (not sure if these guys are national) in Allston to have our own contest... After ordering 6 dogs, thinking I'd handle my buddies no problem - I ate four and a half dogs in *45 minutes*.
