He's an average NFL RB. Personally, I think both Alexander and possibly Duckett are better. Mercury Morris is right in line with Jones. Maybe it's my Cowboy hatred showing through, but Julius Jones doesn't do anything that's special. He's a solid RB, but isn't above average at anything really.

It's a nice gamble for Seattle. Jones has low miles on him. If Duckett couldn't do it in Detroit, living 125 miles away, he will never do it. All those carries have wore down Alexander.

For the amount of money they spent, it's a good swap but Jones does get hurt a ton. This move was only to save the difference between him and Alexander and spend it somewhere else.

Both Duckett and Jones were picked up on the cheap and have minimal guaranteed money so to me they were both signed to give Holmy some options in his last year as they weren't going to go into his last season forcing him to use a rookie. I think they'll go rb in the first few rounds and be prepared to let him learn behind these guys and when Holmy is gone it'll be easy enough to drop either of these guys and go with the youngster.

I think People need to realise that wheeling and dealing must revolve around your starting QB :drink:

Doesn't make sense to cut him this season, maybe next season though. Ruskell might be seeing if a fire is lit under Shaun by bringing in Jones. Mo Morris is a goner for sure though.

His numbers have been declining big time the past 3 years.

New Orleans Saints sign former Seahawks running back Julius Jones | NFL

By The Associated Press

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints decided they needed a new running back more than they needed to carry two field-goal kickers.
Hoping to boost a running game that ranks 31st in the league through five games, the Saints on Tuesday signed ex-Seahawks running back Julius Jones and released 46-year-old kicker John Carney.
Jones, 29, was Seattle's leading rusher the past two seasons, gaining 663 yards last season and 698 yards in 2008. The Seahawks released him last week after acquiring Marshawn Lynch in a trade with Buffalo.
Carney signed with the Super Bowl champion Saints in late September to fill in for struggling kicker Garrett Hartley — who was inactive the past two weeks but is poised to reclaim the job with Carney's departure. Carney made 5 of 6 attempts in two games, missing the final one — from 29 yards — late in the third quarter of the Saints' 30-20 loss at Arizona on Sunday.
The Saints are averaging 75.6 yards rushing per game. They have played the last three games without Reggie Bush, who is recovering from a broken bone in his right leg, and the last two games without Pierre Thomas, who hurt his left ankle.
