The big night is almost here! This Wednesday, November 29, it's the 85th Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting, ushering in the holiday season. And the party of the year brings an incredible of lineup of artists leading up to the illumination of the 75-foot Norway spruce. In order of appearance on the NBC broadcast, they are: Jennifer Nettles,Auli'i Cravalho, Gwen Stefani, Seal, The Tenors, Pentatonix, Brett Eldredge, Leslie Odom Jr., Train and Harry Connick Jr.
Along with rooftop appearances (such as the set by Moana star Cravalho), many of the stars will perform live on the Plaza, including Odom Jr.—the Hamilton sensation,Rainbow Room alum and Christmas album maestro—as well as Connick Jr. on the keys and a cappella Christmas favorites Pentatonix.
The celebration at Rockefeller Plaza is open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. Some important info to know if you hope to attend the always-packed festivities: Street closures between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and 48th to 51st Streets begin at 3pm that day, so taking mass transit is advised. No umbrellas, backpacks or large bags are allowed into the event. See a Rockefeller Center map with transit info here.
On NBC, the special Christmas in Rockefeller Center begins its live local/regional broadcast at 7pm Eastern (running to 9pm), while the national broadcast starts at 8pm Central.
The star of the show that everyone tunes in to see—the Tree!—will be wrapped in five miles of 50,000 multicolored lights (energy-efficient LEDs powered by solar panels) and its topper is a 9.5-foot Swarovski star that twinkles with 25,000 crystals. The gorgeous spruce will remain lit daily from 5:30am to 11:30pm, and until 9pm when it comes down on January 7.
