Early reports are that Aldo wants to fight through it. If he wins he beat Conor with a broken rib and if he loses he'll get an immediate rematch. Not a bad move. He'll have to shut down training camp 3 weeks early but the injury usually takes about a month to get right so he might not be too bad off if they stick to the original date.

Who do you like in this fight Jake? I'm sure this will have the line drop even more than it has.

With Aldo at 100% I think he takes it but it's tough to say how he fights with the rib. I kinda feel like the fight will end on a cut for some reason. If Aldo can get him down he'll handle Conor without too much issue but I think the fight stays standing and Jose opts to strike. He seems legitimately pissed off. Aldo's striking is excellent but not elite IMO. People forget the guy is one of the top jiu jitsu fighters in the sport, but he's happy striking so he doesn't use that facet often. Aldo should be about -150, but would be -275 if I thought he'd try to take the fight down and use his advantages.

What about you?

I like Aldo in this fight. Maybe not as much now, but I'll still back him. I am only afraid of the size of Connor in this match up. Other than that, I think Aldo's sparring partner for this training camp is better than McGregor.

Wow Mendes is actually not a great matchup for McGregor. If he loses that is really gonna derail the momentum for McGregor/Aldo which did have a superfight feel to it (atleast as far as MMA goes)

Sucks for all the people who bought tickets

Mendes is an awful matchup for McGregor but you also have to figure that Conor has been training for a 5-rounder for months while Mendes was doing random promo shit a few days ago. Chad's cardio could be garbage (I doubt it since he's usually a monster in that department but having only a couple weeks to prepare is not normal). I'm really surprised the UFC will let this fight happen.

The fact that it's for the interim title is a joke but they want to say McGregor has a slice of the title.

What would make the most sense is if Mendes came in overweight and the fight was made a catchweight. That way McGregor is still in line for the Aldo fight even with a loss (since he didn't lose in his weight class). Wouldn't be surprised if that is what ends up happening.

A Nate Diaz catchweight fight would have made the most sense but the UFC is trying to get the belt in Conor's hands at all costs it seems, even if it means risking the Aldo fight.

Tough beat for McGregor... I'm not a huge fan of his, as I could live without a lot of the chatter... But, if he were to lose, it would completely rob him of the chance to end Aldo's dominant run. But, if you talk the talk, you gotta do the other part too. I hope he wins, because I do want to see he and Aldo go at it.
