I think Tarver has an okay chance against Roy Jones... especially since the word around town is that Jones is having trouble making weight. That's extra stress on a fighter and hard on his body. I don't see Jones getting ko'd, but he could lose by points if he has to dehydrate himself to make weight and doesn't recoup by fight time. (and it looks like he'll have too)

I put money on Tarver to win by decision for +1600 at WSEX. Great value!!!

sure wish that could happen, but it won't.
Jones will tear his butt up. I'm not a fan
one way or the other, but tarver is running
his mouth, and he will pay for it.

Everyone's got a dream. And if you think Tarver has even the slightest chance of winning this bout in any fashion, you are definitely dreaming.

This bout shall be very similar to Jones vs Griffin II. Roy will punish Tarver from the outset. I would be surprised if this bout went the distance because Roy is so determined to punish Tarver.

Do not be fooled by what Tarver has being saying to the press. Although Tarver may be a very good boxer at the light heavyweight level, he is not in the same league as Roy Jones Jr.

IMO, the best boxers in the game p4p are without question Roy Jones Jr and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The only way Tarver wins this bout is by chance some freak occurrence (eg. Roy hitting him while he is down, Roys corner coming into the ring too soon, etc).

Barring those types of events, you can bet your house on this one that Roy will win the bout. This was an easy one to pick. Good Luck!!!

eric harding.....a good boxer.....embarrassed tarver in their first fight.....and was skunking him again in the 2nd goround until he got cocky and got caught.....

tarver`s got no chance.....unless somebody can do a twitch muscle transplant from michael vick to him before fight time......

the tortoise and the hare.....tarver`s a mediocre, slow fighter at best...but he`s tall and left handed..he overwhelms little guys like griffin....and struggled mightily against blown up middleweight, southpaw reggie johnson(split or majority decision,i don`t remember).....

2 chances...none and none....slim was never in town for this one....

I thought he beat Rggie Johnson real easily. Besides being knocked down I thought Tarver won no less than 9 rounds. He wasn't embarrased against Harding the first time (IMO), Tarver was winning the fight after the first 6 rounds. Harding caught him and broke his jaw and it was all downhill from there. Regardless, I agree that Tarver don;t really have much of a chance.

Yeah, I agree, sort-a... we all thought Buster Douglas didn't have a chance against Tyson and look what happened. Or Lewis vs. Rahman... etc.

I just put a small amount of money on Tarver to win by decision at wsex because the odds are +1800. (just incase)

In both of your examples, the favorites were KO'd. If Jones is not KO'd by Tarver, I just can not see how he will outbox/outspeed Roy. And I do not see him knocking out Roy. As I mentioned earlier, the only way Tarver takes this bout is by chance Jones disqualifies himself or Jones suffers a bad cut or injury. These would all be freak occurrences.

By the way, this will be one of the best months for boxing fans in a long while this year. I can not wait to see Jones punish Tarver nor can I wait to see Barrera vs Pacquiao. Mouth-watering bouts!

i still say harding is the better fighter....116-111 is pretty convincing...but something happened to harding before the second fight...there have been rumors that he`s not as dedicated as he once was(read between the lines)....he was tired in the 4th round of the second bout...and looked lost vs glencoffe johnson(a very good journeyman that harding should beat)....

tarver`s got buddy mcgirt in his corner....that`s a plus.....you put earrings on a pig and it looks better ...but,it`s still a sow....

not saying that tarver is a joke....but,vs jones,he`s in way over his head...and jones isn`t happy....he came back down to 175 for tarver and tarver alone......he`s says he`s intent on stopping tarver...check around the net.....jones swears he`s stopping tarver.....

for making him come down to 175.....and for all the "unkind" comments preceding the bout.....johnson and harding, relatively light punchers at light heavy, both had tarver on the canvas......

draw your own conclusions....

This is hardly a mouth watering fight. IMO Tarver is the most overrated boxer there is. He is the biggest joke out there.

I think Pacquiao is a tough guy. What do you think his chances are of beating Barrera, Boxing_Freak... and what would it be = Ko or dec?

Gil,

I have seen Pacquiao fight just once, and that was in his last bout. He did not look overly impressive to me in that particular bout although he did KO his opponent.

But to answer your question, I do not think Pac Man will be able to defeat Barrera if they go toe to toe. His southpaw style may present problems for Barrera in the beginning, but I believe Barrera will win the bout on the scorecards. I feel there is a slight chance that Barrera may KO Pacquiao. One thing that is for sure, and that is that Barrera does not get KO'd in this bout by Pacquiao.

Almly,

Fighters do not always have to be perfectly matched to make for a "mouth-watering fight". It is also very exciting to watch someone get a real beating when he has been begging for it, whether it be for financial reasons or glory/fame.

pacquaio/barrera is what i`d call a very interesting bout...pacquaio is a lefty, and he can punch....he`s a very offensive fighter with great power and a high work rate....

barrera probably handles lefty`s as well as anyone this side of roy jones....i think there`s a real chance that pacquaio/barrera doesn`t go the distance....i can`t see manny changing his style for barrera...and his style is basically that of an offensive guy that comes to fight....

manny has 37 wins w/29 k.o.`s.....a closer look indicates that he had 7 of the 9 legit decisions on his record come in his first 13 fights....none of his last 17 bouts have gone to the cards.....

should be an action fight...i`m a big pacquaio admirer...an even bigger barrera admirer...

i`ll say this...pacquaio`s coming up in weight....he`s naturally the smaller guy....but,barrera had better not come in lackadaisical...pacquaio is dangerous...

btw....just an fyi....i`d guess that the woods/johnson over is a safer bet than wright/hernandez......hernandez had been stopped on a cut by rhoshi wells(allegedly an elbow)....he does take a lot of punches....

Roy Jones vs. Antonio Tarver

Over 8 rounds -110
Under 8 rounds -130

I seen this prop at both WSEX and BET365. I'm going with the OVER. Most other books have 9.5 rounds
