What a difference a week makes.

Just seven days ago the buzz surrounding the entire MMA world was the growing and heated rivalry between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and his next challenger Daniel Cormier after they got into a brawl during a UFC media event in Las Vegas.

Following a media tour full of interviews and trash talk, Jones headed back into training camp and immediately suffered a leg injury that will force him out of his fight against Cormier, postponing one of the most anticipated fights of 2014.

Jones and Cormier will still do battle, but now the fighters will face off on Jan. 3 at an event tentatively scheduled to be UFC 182.
The news was announced Tuesday via FOX Sports 1 on America's Pregame.

With Jones out of action, UFC 178 will also undergo a massive facelift with flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson pulled from his bout at UFC 177 in Sacramento. He will instead face Chris Cariaso on Sept. 27.

Johnson was already scheduled to meet Cariaso in August, but now the two 125-pounders will meet in the new UFC 178 main event.

UPDATE: Sources speaking to FOX Sports indicated that it was an ankle and knee injury believed to be a torn meniscus that forced Jones out of the fight against Cormier on Sept 27. Neither are severe enough to warrant surgery, but it will put the champion on the sidelines until he can return early next year.

The good news is he will be ready to get back in action on Jan 3 as the new main event for UFC 182 while still facing Cormier with the title on the line.

And they replaced it with Mighty Mouse and Chris Caraiso. Ouch. Feel bad for people that bought tickets early and can't cancel.

Bunch of BS to make a co-Main from another card into a Main Event.

The UFC doesn't give a damn about their fans. Support your local shows. That's where the love for true MMA really lies.

No offense to anyone who watches or participates in MMA. Would you want or let your children watch the sport?

I don't have children, but all my friends and fellow training partners do. The answer is: YOU DAMN RIGHT I WOULD!!

I work local shows, and there are a lot of kids there. They want to see the guys they learn their disciplines from compete, and they should. Many have a dream, a dream that can come true with hard work and dedication, to become Professional MMA stars. Not to mention, the children I see that are involved in Martial Arts programs are the best behaved and best students in the classroom.

you will have fucked up kids/bullies no matter what....the ones that do martial arts with respect can be great....it teaches a lot

there will be lots of punks and mma punks but I don't think mma makes the bad seeds bad
