The rotten fruition of the NBA's decision to take High Schoolers and Young Collegians en-masse starting in the late 80s and early 90s was the death-blow to "pretty and articulate" basketball for both Pro and College B-Ball.
What is seen today in both league's level of play, is it's further degeneration due to the game's de-evolution, the lack of 22 and 23 year-old collegians as top NBA draft picks, the desire for all to "be like Mike" aka dunk and score style points in flight(without his defensive prowess or half-court Offensive set savvy), over-glorification of playground ball(aka Rucker Park or And-One), both league's affect on the High School game and it's Coaches cow-towing to the kids wants to play rag-tag and around the arc(thus deviation from running multiple sets, Pick-And-Roll, Hi-Low Game,etc..)
The NBA's whoring into an ESPN SportsCenter Highlite reel, starting with Michael Jordan, Dominique, and Patrick Ewing's allowance to travel/walk to the rim for dunks.
Kenny Anderson, Stephon Marbury,etc..helped grease the slide.
College Hoops is now but a version of glorified AAU ball in many ways..very few complete teams or outstanding fundamental squads out there..most just assemblages of Under-20 fairly raw talent.
TV Highlites, also Stern and his mental midgets, have whored the entire game of Hoops from the top-to-bottom.
Still love March Madness, but do not watch nearly as much regular season NCAA as I once did..and NBA Hoops I do not watch until the Playoffs start.
