coach Jon Gruden and GM Bruce Allen, according to ESPN.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen, Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting.

The Bucs collapsed down the stretch and missed the playoffs, and Gruden and Allen have now paid for it with their jobs.

My step brother in Clearwater, FL never calls me. He was so siked about Gruden being fired he called me to tell me. Funny.

I guess on the local sports radio they are pretty anti-Gruden too.

The Bucs haven't won a playoff game since SB 37, so it's not like they're trading in playoff success which is all that matters.

Gruden/Allen have been horrible talent evaluators and Gruden does not have the patience to work with young QBs.

This was the right move by the Bucs.

Gruden was brought in to improve a bad offense. Well the offense still sucks balls and hasn't gotten any better. 19th rated scoring offense this year, 18th last year, 31st in '06, 20th in '05, 23rd in '04, 18th in '03, 18th in '02. Sorry but if you've been on the job for 7 years and the best you could do is 18th out of 32 teams when your supposed to be an offensive guru than I have no problem letting him go. Just imagine how bad tampa would've been in the last 7 years if the defense wasn't a top 10 defense in 6 of the last 7 years. If it wasn't for monte kiffen tampa would have never sniffed the playoffs under jon gruden. Not to mention losing the last 4 games of the year when a win in any one of them would've gotten you to the playoffs. As far as not being a better replacement I beg to differ. Isn't Monty Schottenheimer available, or what about Shanahan, hell even guys like Steve spagnuolo, Rex Ryan, and leslie fraizer deserve a shot.

i dont call coaches who win superbowls overrated, but if some say dungy is overrated, i'd say gruden couldn't hold dungy's jock.

Since walking off the field as SB champions in Feb 2003, the TB Bucs under John Gruden were 44-54

I don't know if there's very many NFL coaches who have had as lackluster a six year run as Gruden with the Bucs

Its is almost unbearable to watch a TBay game as every third or fourth play they have a camera shot of his sour puss.
