one thing about Santana above all he is a gamer and a competitor. He knows he has been average his last couple outings and the negative talk is really heating up. Throw out the start against the Phillies and the 1 pitch he made to Teixera for the grand slam and we wouldnt even be having this conversation right now. Im banking on the fact Johan brings his best efforts tonight, having one of his strongest outings of the season...its what the dude is all about, competing. It has also been reported, Johan commented saying he was tipping his pitches again to the Twins (just like in Philadelphia) and he has now fixed the issue. I'm not saying the old Johan Santana of old will be back but he will keep the Mets in the ball game tonight and find a way to carry them to a W.
this is also a strong Livan Hernandez fade as well. It has been the same pattern the last 3 years. Awesome performances out of the gate and than his 50 year old arm implodes after the first 2-3 months. Well the implosion has started. Over his last 3 he has an ERA just under 7, 1.68 WHIP and 26 hits in 17 innings. Throw in that the Mets have faced him many many times, would not surprise me if Livan doesnt make it pasted the 3rd inning. :toast:
