Just found this write-up on Monmouth's main site:

JOEY P., WHO’S THE COWBOY RENEW OLD RIVALRY IN REILLY ‘CAP

They’re baaaaack!

Those old favorites of the Jersey Shore – Joey P. and Who’s the Cowboy – hook up again Saturday in the $60,000 John J. Reilly Handicap for state-breds. There are some other hard-knocking J-Breds in there, of course, but none have caught the imagination of fans quite like Joey and the Cowboy.

The Reilly will be their first meeting of 2009, and the 12th time the two 7-year-old geldings have met at Monmouth in the past five seasons, with Joey P. holding a 7-4 edge in the series. Who’s the Cowboy narrowed the gap the last time they met, on Sept. 1 last year, when he edged Joey P. by a neck in the Icecapade Stakes.

In their 11 head-to-head contests, Joey P. has won six times and once finished second when the Cowboy was third. Who’s the Cowboy has won three races, and once finished third when Joey P. was fourth.

New shooters in the Reilly might be encouraged that the old guys have lost a step or two in their advancing years. But you couldn’t tell that from the work tabs.

Joey P., idle since running sixth in the Toboggan Handicap at Aqueduct on March 7, has put in two bullet works for the Reilly – a half-mile in :47 flat on May 9, best of 87 works at the distance, and five furlongs in :58 3/5 on May 16, best of 53 at the distance that day.

Who’s the Cowboy never got to use his closing kick in the Decathlon Stakes here on opening day when Acting Zippy ran the six furlongs in 1:08 1/5, but came right back on May 18 to drill three furlongs in a bullet :34 3/5 getting ready for the Reilly.

Joey P., bred and owned by John Petrini, will be making a comeback after illness forced him to the sidelines this winter.

“He got really sick after the Toboggan,” trainer Ben Perkins Jr. said. “He had a lung infection, and ran a high temperature for days. It took him two weeks just to get over it. We sent him back to the farm to recover, and brought him here the beginning of May.

“He’s been training good as always,” Perkins said. “He needed a couple of good works to get ready for this, and he got them.

“He always works fast,” the trainer said. “He’s so big and fast and has such a long stride that the exercise riders have a hard time holding him back. If they drop their hands just a little, he takes off.”

If all goes well in the Reilly – a race Joey P. has won twice – the gallant old warrior will ship to West Virginia seeking a repeat in the Charles Town Dash in June.

Who’s the Cowboy, a Sleeter Family production (bred by Carolyn, owned by Gerry and trained by Kevin), never got untracked in the Decathlon and finished eighth of eight in the open event.

“He kept waiting for the speed to stop up front, and it never did,” Gerry Sleeter said. “Those horses just kept on running – 1:08 and change, wow!

“But he came out of the race great, and he worked fast like he always does, so he’s ready to meet Joey P. again.”

I let Joey P go because of the low odds... should of wheeled him in the wxacta but do nothing.

But I did have Joey's Chance circled on the Belmont card.... gave him out as a "tip horse" at work.... Only 5 players believed in me.LOL
Those 5 players cashed in HUGE !

Thanks joey p !!!!:toast:

In the $60,000 John J. Reilly H. at Monmouth, John Petrini's homebred JOEY P (Close Up) continued his domination of the six-furlong event with an easy 8 1/4-length victory over New Jersey-bred rivals. Trained by Ben Perkins and ridden by Joe Bravo, the seven-year-old gelding posted his second straight and third overall victory in the race, recording his 12th overall stakes win when stopping the teletimer over the fast track in 1:08 3/5. The Grade 3 winner inched closer to millionaire status, moving his earnings to $973,472 from a 35-16-7-1 ledger...
