How long does one "owe" the world?
The rest of their lives?
When is one finally free of that "You have to give something back" mentality?
Just asking...............
Usually in a case like this, I side with the athlete in that they owe the fans an honest performance on the field and thats about it. In this case they requested all the past SB mvp's on hand. With that alone one would hope that all would be honored to make this appearance. I guess the NFL figured they'd throw a little $1000 stipend at them for meals, cabs, room, etc so that it does not cost these mvps out of pocket. I make that point because I sincerely doubt that the NFL is saying "hey we think you guys are worth a grand apiece for parading your mugs around the field...", I'm sure it was to alleviate immediate expenses.
With Montana, my gut tells me that there is some truth to this $100000 appearance fee , I cannot put my finger on it but I think there was a time or two in the past where joe was in a similar situation. This is a disgrace if it is true. No, he nor other famous pros can show up for all requests but this was bigtime, as in it don't get bigger than Super Bowl!
Dont get me started on that goon Bradshaw. Saw this dopey heeyukkum on Leno last night acting in his usual whacked out fashion while trying to hit on a chicky 40 years younger than him (ridiculously bad rap by the way)who in turn gave him looks of disbelief. Now, this guy is a former Steeler. His team is in the damn game! at least Montana can claim that in his defense that the niners were not. I would love to find out how many past Steelers were in attendance and if so, did they have a fam member along? Get my point? That aside, if he was an SB mvp FOR THE STEELERS, he should be the first one in the pool! Sick and tired of people using "My Family" as a copout to whatever it is they are trying to avoid. WHAT A CROCK!!!! YOu mention 'well I did it for my family' and everyone just nods like all is well and your off the hook. FVCK THAT!!!
