I have been trying to get last week and Nevada out of my mind (Nevada???). Here are the picks. Some of you may think I'm :grandmais with my first two picks, and to be honest I can't blame ya. BOL!
Army (+10) vs Akron
Army coach Stan Brock apologized to the US military and the Army Corps of Cadets after the Cadets 28-10 loss to New Hamphsire. Something tells me that Army players probably have a little more pride than most college football players and you will see their best effort here. Also, you gotta question Akron being road favorites of DD over anyone. If Army doesn't cover this number, Brock may be making a call to the White House next.
+21 at Maryland
I think we can all be in agreement that if you can't score 21 points, you probably can't cover as 21 point favorites. Maryland was having difficulty scoring anything against lesser competition prior to last week when they caught a sleepy and jetlagged Cal team by surprise. I'm not convinced just yet they're ready to cover this number. The high number is an overreaction to EMU's 41-17 loss to Toledo last week and Maryland's win over Cal. Sort of understandable, but EMU was favored in that game and Maryland were 2 TD UD's at home. In addition, Maryland is 1-6 ATS as 3 TD favorite since 2003. This is also a sandwich game for them with Clemson up next week.
+3 vs LSU
The home team has won 8 straight in this series. So it makes sense to take the home dog in this series if you get the chance. Not to mention, does anyone really think raw QB Andrew Hatch is coming into Jordan-Hare and winning his first big SEC game on the road? With Auburn's defense, he will have to make plays. Auburn getting points at home is an overreaction to last week's ugly 3-2 win over Miss State (a game they dominated) and LSU being the defending national champions. That was last year by the way, with a veteran senior QB. Also, ESPN resident douchebag Mark May picked a blowout win for LSU which should make all Auburn backers feel a lot better.
