The
Kansas City Royals selected the contract of former A’s right-hander
Joe Blanton from Triple-A Omaha and optioned reliever
Aaron Brooks to Omaha before Saturday night’s game against the
New York Yankees.
The Royals also recalled left-hander
Brian Flynn from Omaha and placed him on the 60-day disabled list with a torn muscle in the back of his shoulder. Flynn was barely beaten out for a job in the Royals’ bullpen in spring training.
Blanton, 34, last pitched in the majors with the Angels in 2013. He signed a minor-league deal with Kansas City and made seven starts, going 3-2 with a 3.89 ERA.
