At least second team.

I am not saying this because I am a Kentucky fan, but a basketball fan.
If you watch every game ... he is a killer on offense and defense.

He is just like Stephon Curry. He has sucky players on his team and he still gets shots off and knocks them down (with the defensive focus on him).

Without Meeks, Kentucky would be around .500

On top of his scoring, he usually guards the best player on the other team.
He usually plays 40 minutes a game and runs around off picks on offense and runs through picks on defense.

One of the best free throw shooters in NCAA.

The only bad thing is his turnovers ... but what do you expect when you are focused on every game.

Most of the games, they play a box and 1 against him and he still gets over 25.

I am not just saying this because of the Tenn game ... I have been saying this for a long time (no matter how the rest of this game turns out).

He is a stud.

Just wow. I haven't seen this good of an individual college basketball performance in a while.

And he gets free on a run out on an out-of-bounds play. Great player.

He hit 10 threes tonight.
He already had games where he hit 9 threes and 8 threes in games this year.

He is the real deal folks. I am glad this game was on national television so everyone could see what I have seen all year!

amazing performance, meeks is a stud. it did come against the vols though so lets not get carried away with the melo comments. meeks is no melo. vols play no defense, nor do most sec teams.

put the cats up against teams like georgetown, pitt, uconn or ville and meeks will hit around 20, which is still very good.

agree.

This game aside, he has been fantastic all year. Control Meeks and you beat UK.

88% from the line their best on ball defender.

It is hard to believe that UK player is underrated, but he is.

Meeks has played against these teams:

North Carolina
West Virginia (Huggins)
Kansas St
Miami
Louisville
Vanderbilt
Tennessee

Tennessee is a RIVALRY game. I don't care who they are playing. Tennessee was up for this game and they were on Meeks all night. He hit those shots with players in his face.

I would also like to say, that when has faced the weaker teams ... he has usually faced a box and 1 with their best defender on him. That is sometimes harder than facing a Louisville.

Trust me ... he is the REAL DEAL!

what was most impressive to me was his efficiency in scoring 54...he only took 22 shots and very few of those were forced

yea. He usually doesn't take that many shots and he still gets in the 30's most games.

Tennesse wasn't up for this game LOL

However, Meeks is a helluva player. Not sure about where he'll go on the AM list because there's so much basketball left.

However, 1 thing I noticed that I think he needs to work on is scoring with the ball. His team did a great job getting him open off screens and such. He kind of reminds me of Kevin Martin.

^^^ Tennessee is a rivalry game. Pearl hates UK and said when he first got to Tennessee that they need to beat UK every time. That is why he wears the orange jacket against them. It was a very big game.

Pearl's game plan was to take Meeks (and Patterson) out of the game and let other players beat them.

So yes ... Tennessee was ready for this game and for Meeks

On the other note ... Meeks is very good with the ball in his hands. Watch all his games and you will know.

Even last night, Meeks had several times where he had the ball in his hands and he stopped and took a three (I think around 4 of this 10 were that way). He also can take the ball to the basket. If you look at his shot charts this year, you will see a well balanced player.

My point was that if you really watched the game last night, Tennessee wasn't ready, nor was the crowd. At no point did I ever think Tennessee was going to win the game. They never seemed to be in it.

They weren't ready for UK. As matter of fact, they haven't been ready for very many teams this year LOL

Tennessee was ready. Meeks took the crowd and the players out of it. I watched the game several times already. His big shots took them out of the game. They were speechless. They tried 5 different people on him. Pearl said before the game ... they plan to take Meeks and Patterson out of the game. Didn't Tennessee beat two Big East teams (Marquette and Georgetown)?

Tennessee is ALWAYS ready for UK. It is a rivalry game. Both teams are always ready for this game!

Tennessee had the game down to 6 points in the second half and the crowd was rocking. I thought Tennessee was going to win ... but Meeks answered two more threes in a crucial time of the game
