I am sick and tired of seeing this guy manage/lose baseball games. I have never seen a team that can not manufacture a run like the Astros. Top of the 7th inning, 0 outs 1st and 2nd Clemens up, he bunts 2 foul and Jimy proceeds to let him swing away, of course he strikes out. Clemens is a .115 career hitter. Biggio up next hits into a double play. Either pinch hit for Clemens or keep the bunt on with 2 strikes. Everynight this team struggles to score, they do not do the little things. Jimy will coach in the All Star Game next Tuesday and then get fired on Wed. With that big payroll, the Astros are nearing the cellar in the Central.

Thanks Jimy, you don't pinch hit for Clemens and then you take him on inning later. Ballgame, Astros will be a team to fade the rest of the season!!!

i wouldnt't solely blame williams for this teams demise..they cant hit for shit right now....in the last 30 days they are last in the NL in the following categories

Runs
Hits
RBI's
Total Bases
Slg percentage

BUT 2nd in Walks and 3rd in K's

the balls just aint falling for them...they will come around

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

What are the options at manager?
Q: If Jimy Williams is fired, who do you think Drayton McLane would replace him with? Personally, I would like to see Don Baylor as the Astros next manager, but I don't know if that is even a possibility. I haven't agreed with all of the decisions that Willialms has made, but before I would fire him, I would look at replacing the hitting coach. This hitting drought has gone on too long and it brings to mind something I recall being said about Richard Hidalgo having a flaw in his swing after he was traded. If Hidalgo had a flaw in his swing, how many other Astros have flaws that can be corrected by a better hitting coach?

A: If Jimy Williams is fired during the season, I'm guessing one of three people -- Jim Fregosi, Gene Lamont or Phil Garner -- would finish the season. I believe Don Baylor would be the permanent replacement. He's the hitting coach of the New York Mets and not available until after the season. When things are going as badly as they are now, everyone, including the hitting and pitching coaches, should be scrutinized. New Orleans hitting coach Gary Gaetti and New Orleans pitching coach Jim Hickey are highly regarded. I'm uncomfortable talking about replacing coaches because I know that Harry Spillman and Burt Hooton are competent. There's burden of responsibility on the players, too. Sometimes, you have to bring someone new in just to find out if it was the old coach. That's not fair, but that's the way the game works.

Jimy was a great assistant coach to bobby cox in atlanta.. i hated it when he left, he was a big part of the coaching staff.. however he is severely lacking in manegerial qualities.. if he is fired, and i think he should be, id like to see him back under bobby in atlanta...

Go Braves..
