James Scott "Jim" Brady (August 29, 1940 – August 4, 2014) was a former Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary under U.S. President Ronald Reagan. After nearly being killed and becoming permanently disabled as a result of an assassination attempt on Reagan in 1981, Brady became an ardent supporter of gun control.

For most of the last two decades he actual had complete brain function back. Brady bill passed 12 years after he was shot so he and Sarah his wife certainly had some personal fortitude to see it through. Press room is named after him and he was never replaced by reagan so he received his full salary for last seven years of Reagan's presidency .
