Watch for the Jets to be in the mix for a playoff spot. Raiders are just 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against AFC East opponents, which is significant considering this is an early game for them all the way across the country Their defense should be solid and their offense improved. Meanwhile, things aren’t pretty in Oakland, and I will be taking our shot against the rookie QB. The Oakland Raiders have been among the league’s worst teams for more than a decade as they haven’t had a winning season since making the Super Bowl in 2003 and while they have added some pieces to the fold this season there remains very little optimism for the Silver and Black. Raiders defense is especially dicey. More veterans were brought in, but do they have anything left? Former Giant Justin Tuck and former Steeler Lamar Woodley hope to bolster the pass rush. Rookie Khalil Mack will start at OLB in a 4-3 scheme. Charles Woodson and Carlos Rogers highlight the secondary additions. With a daunting schedule of solid passing offenses ahead, this is a must-win sort of game for the Jets. There’s also the potential for the Jets front seven to feast. Last year the Jets had the best run defense in the NFL and I wouldn’t expect that to change. More consistent pressure on the quarterback from the outside, specifically from a player like Quinton Coples, could give the Jets a defense to win this game. Using J.J. Bascus power rating, Jets should win by 7 1/2 points. Lay the points, but do it before the line moves up. I bet game at opener here in Vegas at -4 1/2 Jets, but -5 or -5 1/2 or maybe a big if at -6? should be a winner and chicken for dinner//LOL/LOL
