Looks to be a great hire for the Dawgs on paper.....let's see if he can get all those athletes to play ball.

Pruitt moving up the coaching ladder in a hurry (also financially). Alabama secondary coach in 2012...Florida State defensive coordinator in 2013...now to Georgia as DC. He's gone from $240,000, to over $500,000 to over $800,000 in three short years.

Best thing for Georgia getting rid of Todd Grantham. Most overrated DC in the SEC the past four years. The guy always had talent but could not coach them up.

One knock on Mark Richt is he hangs on to bad assistants to long. Look at Saban after losing to Auburn and Oklahoma. Offensive coordinator and offensive line coach gone.

Alabama loses another coach today. Secondary coach Greg Brown has resigned bringing the total to three coaches leaving. Defensive line coach Chris Rumph, and OC Doug Nussmeier are the other two. Could be one more seeing the door in the near future.

Saban was not happy with the way the season ended and went into self-evaluation mode and we are seeing some changes. He also said some players on scholarship may be paying their own way next year.

Sidenote: Freshman QB Luke Del Rio has decided to transfer. He was well thought of by the coaching staff and would have been the third QB this season had McCarron or Sims gone down. His dad is Jack Del Rio, defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos.

He couldn't keep his dick in his pants, banging a young co-ed that worked in athletic department...fiance gave him an ultimatum, leave with me or its over. He should have an easier time controlling himself in Athens, GA.

I am guessing this is humor or you have never been to Athens...

Been to Athens numerous times when I attended FSU, had friends up there and a big Widespread fan. Cool town, but not near the talent of Tally.

I don't understand why Grantham left. He turned down the Saints last year only to stay at Georgia then bolt for Louisville? Louisville isn't going to do anything in the ACC now that Bridgewater is gone.

Georgia is/will be retooling their defensive staff. New defensive coordinator (hired), new defensive line coach, new linebacker coach and new secondary coach (DC Pruitt will also coach the secondary) plus Richt plans to add a special teams coordinator.

Speculation is Richt might be interested in Cris Kiffin (Lane's younger brother) who holds the same position at Ole Miss or Ed Orgeron (formerly of USC) to fill the defensive line coach position.

Coaching salaries are out of control, especially the assistants.

When Jeff Bowden got canned at FSU (7 or 8 years ago) he was making less than $200K as the OC. His buyout was 5 years/$105K/year.

FSU has so much talent that DesertNole and I could do what Pruitt did! He's definitely an up & coming coach, but he's been a DC for ONE YEAR!

I'm curious what the hell Saban was thinking hiring Lane Kiffin. I know Lane can coach (not much of a head coach), but he's certainly got a lot of experience for a younger coach. Interesting Saban took the route of getting rid of so many coaches (how many of those were not voluntary?). He's done a great job replacing coaches.

You are right Coach that Pruitt walked into a pretty good situation at Florida State. The talent was there and he did a good job coordinating that talent.

He's walking into another good situation at Georgia. He will have a veteran defensive team with ten starters returning from last year. The defense will need a strong performance early until a young Dawg offense grows up. Only 5 starters returning minus a three year starter at quarterback.

Pruitt is a good young talent but like you said, he's only been a college defensive coordinator for one year. Had some great years at Hoover High School (B'ham, Ala) coordinating the defense. Won a state title five of six times.
