I haven't been anywhere exotic like that but I have played on a course in the intercoastals of South Carolina. Cartboys warned me of wind especially on a particular par three that sits in between waterways and your tee shot plays directly into gusts of wind off ocean. It is a 140 yard par three. Usually would play a hard nine. But clubbed down to a SEVEN! Striped it and thought I had a definite birdie attempt if it didn't go over the green. Then I proceeded to watch as it halfway to the hole, it went straight up and I ended up about 20 yards short of green. I couldn't believe it. A perfect 7 irom which would go 165-170 yards under normal conditions went 115 at best!
I'm gonna play Kiawah with cuz in the next couple of weeks. Jwhite, I've played holes in Oklahoma where I hit a 3 iron 115 yards into the wind. And I usually hit a 3 220-225 yards, LOL. That was just some crazy shit, I'd never seen that. Commentators were saying today during the completion of Round 2 that they had the greens cut to a nat's ass. I've never been to Scotland, it'll happen one day, but I've played bent grass greens before, slicker than ice, and the damn ball didn't move with the wind.
