Jeb Bush, once a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, is slashing pay across the board for his struggling campaign as he attempts to regain traction just 100 days before the party’s first nominating contest.

The campaign is removing some senior staff from the payroll, parting ways with some consultants, and downsizing its Miami headquarters to save more than $1 million per month and cut payroll by 40 percent this week, according to Bush campaign officials who requested anonymity to speak about internal changes. Senior leadership positions remain unchanged.

I don't dislike Jeb the was I disliked McCain in 2007, but I'm pretty sure he was written off a tad bit prematurely

When you're the establishment candidate, you have staying power

Three strikes and you’re out.

Strike 1. Name recognition. The name Bush turns off voters whether it’s justified or not.

Strike 2. It’s the election of the non establishment candidate. Bush is not only establishment but he’s a Rino to boot.

Strike 3. When your donors bail on you, your toast.

He’s out. He just hasn’t admitted it yet.

His campaign operation was hugely bloated to begin with though. For him to scale down his campaign is meaningful, but I bet it is still bigger than the other candidates.

I don't think he'll win either but he is still live. Probably needs a good debate on Wednesday on CNBC.

I don't dislike Jeb either but having a political dynasty just isn't what I think America is all about IMO.

I don't think it reflects well on the country to have that type of nepotism prevalent in the highest office in the land.

having the last name Bush is a huge negative. Just as if someone down the road ran for president with the last name Obama. Almost impossible to get elected again.

If Obama ran again.....he'd win without changing his last name.

well, we want 1 and 2 to be true, but I'm not sure the rest of the country has such a strong conviction. The fact that Hillary is popular in some circles kinda proves that's not necessarily the national sentiment

as for donors, they're finicky

I assure you McCain (maybe even Romney) had big problems at this point during the nomination process

Damn, Hillary was a lock 8 years ago to the date, she was going to face Rudy I believe (don't remember when Rudy fell off the perch)

Rudy got prostate cancer? Or he had a marriage scandal?

Rudy fell when he opened his mouth.
Thats about the same time it started going south with bush.

I look forward to the CNBC debate.
Historically they have always asked the best questions.
Not to be confused with MSNBC.

I honestly feel like we about about to see a Rubio surge.

I have a tip for Jeb Bush that will work if he's positioned next to Trump. The first time Trump insults him, and he will.....

Turn to Trump with eyes of fire, pause for a moment. Without removing your glare say clearly and confidently, "Ya know Trump, you should make an effort to shut up for a minute. Every time you open your mouth something stupid flies out of it." Turn to moderator, ask for the question to be repeated and continue with a broad smile as if nothing just happened.

Yeah, just like 2012...he had no shot then either. Stick to Mark Duper documentaries.
well he got a few million less votes than in 2008 and we all know its hard to not get a second term. The new guy/gal for the dems can't run on his record so what else do they have? More failed policies? Any competent GOP candidate will make it painfully aware that this can't continue.

Go Trump!

And we are getting dangerously close to the time where we are going to have to start taking Trumps numbers seriously.
We are way past the point where everyone said he would fade away.

The main reason Rudy faded is because his brand was being a national security guy and '08 was mostly about the economy. That was by far the #1 issue that year. Not to mention he is a huge social liberal that can't really win a GOP primary.

NO Rudy faded because he was an "ITALIAN" "Yankee",and NO way that the Southern RepubliKKKans would cast a vote for him.
Simple as that!!!!!
He figured that out early, and bailed out before it became an embarrassment.

I've no doubt that you didn't think he was gonna win the first two times, either, so, you'll pardon me if I don't value your opinion much...

You may never hear this from me again...the OP's thread title was funny...and probably true.

Let me know when you find a competent GOP candidate. You saw Hillary yesterday....good luck out debating her.
