mmmm destiny train? or Homer?
San Francisco faced a Washington Nationals team that gave games away because they were nervous or inexperienced. Cardinals also gave games away with unforced errors and poor managing. Giants have not hit well in the postseason other than in a couple of games. They are very spotty in their hitting. They are the oldest team in MLB. Besides Bum, who in their rotation is feared? An aging Peavy, a 39 year opd Hudson or 37 year old Vogelsong? This team limped into the postseason. They had a great record the first half and thats why they made it. They don't strike fear into the royals who finished strong. They've caught lightningin a bottle. Nobody has played better since September 1st.
Giants will get exposed. If they get at Bumgarner early, it will be downhill for the Giants from there. The Cardinals nor the Nationals put pressure on the Giants with their baserunning. KC is young and they ought to keep that energy level up all series. Giants are a great team who is about to start its demise into mediocrity. KC is on the rise. The core of the giants used to be Lincecum, Cain, and Romo. Right now they are a shell of themselves and they have the likes of Peavy and Hudson replacing them. As far as hitting, without Angel Pagan to setup the 2, 3, and 4 hitters they have struggled scoring runs unless it was through errant throws, wild pitches, poor decisionmaking by the opposing manager.
If the giants don't take game 1, this series could be over quick. Bumgarner needs to win 2 games in this series for the giants to have a chance. Bochy and Bum know that. Bum is an aggressive pitcher and will come right after KC. I fully expect them to be aggressive early in the at-bats. I think there is a potential to knock Bum out early in game 1.
