(05-24) 18:06 PDT BALTIMORE (AP) --
Orioles catcher Javy Lopez broke a bone in his right hand Tuesday night and will probably be placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Lopez was hit on his non-glove hand by a foul tip off the bat of Seattle's Bret Boone in the third inning. He was immediately replaced by Geronimo Gil.
X-rays revealed a broken bone, and the Orioles said they will make a move to replace the catcher on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Baltimore designated catcher Sal Fasano for assignment after activating Sammy Sosa from the disabled list. Fasano must clear waivers before he can be brought back.
