Gimme a break. ONE FREAKING GAME! The o-line play was bad as was the play calling and the offense as a whole. Yes Campbell held onto the ball too long a couple times but guys just were not getting open. What's the guy supposed to do besides check down? Glad you make tremendous generalizations from one damn game. He played very well against the Eagles pressure earlier this season.
I bash Campbell all the time, not just one game. I am sick of the unneccesary hype, and all of the damn excuses this guy gets when he fails. All the guy knows how to do is throw screens and check downs.
Look at the talent around him...
- Pro Bowl Tail back, #1 Leading Rusher in the NFL
- Mike Sellers, a bruising FB
- Pro bowl caliber TE in Cooley
- Pro Bowl WR in Santana Moss and playmaker
- Slot machine A. Randel El
- Top Draft WR draft pick in Devin Thomas
LT- Chris Samuels is pro bowl caliber
LG - Kendall used to be pro bowl caliber, is above average
C - Rabach is above average
RG - Thomas won't make the pro bowl, but is one of the better G's
RT - Janson/Heyer, Janson isn't what he used to be
So I look at the talent around Campbell and can't complan at all. The Redskins have one of the best Lines in the NFL, they have the top RB, a nice pass catching TE to rely on, a stud WR, and young talent behind him.
Zorn is a QB coach too. All I see from Campbell is basic, boring check downs, screens, WR, RB, and TE drags. He is the only thing holding that team back.
2007
Redskins were 5-7 under Jason Campbell, below 50%
Redskins were 4-0 under Todd Collins and average more pts, and against better competition.
Jason Campbell is WAY over hyped. He has been sheltered his entire QB life, not been able to call audibles etc. and at some point they have to take the training wheels off, and he has been exposed. Throwing RB screens against the Saints is one thing, but playing QB is another. Campbell sucks.
