Jameis Winston and the woman who accused him of rape have reached a settlement in their civil suit.
The current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback was involved in a highly publicized rape case while in college. Winston was never criminally charged in the matter, as the alleged victim’s legal team said the investigation was botched in multiple ways. Both Florida State and Tallahassee Police tried to block the criminal investigation.
The woman filed a civil suit against the former Florida State quarterback last year, and TMZ Sports says the two sides settled and will file a joint dismissal.
The woman sued Florida State University and was awarded just under $1 million earlier this year. She ended up leaving school after the incident.
Winston was cleared in an FSU Code of Conduct hearing in 2014, weeks before he led the Seminoles to the national championship.
The incident between the two occurred in Dec. 2012.
