The man who was once the most intimidating athlete on the planet despite being a golfer is now being called out by a kicker.
And a kicker on the Jaguars, at that.
It's been another amazing downfall for Woods, now 62nd in the World Golf Ranking.
He shot a career-worst 82 in the second round to miss the cut at the Phoenix Open in late January, then withdrew after 11 holes at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines last week. And on Wednesday, the 14-time major winner announced he was taking another indefinite break from professional golf, citing a game which currently is "not acceptable."
He has already decided to skip this week's event at Pebble Beach and next week at Riviera in Southern California. The earliest tournament Woods anticipates playing in would be the Honda Classic beginning Feb. 26, but said that he won't return to the Tour if his game is not at the level he expects.
"That's not fair to anyone. I do, however, expect to be playing again very soon."
So why not a little skins game with the kicker for a team which hasn't won more than five games in a season since 2010 and hasn't finished with a winning record since 2007?
Now, it's not as if Scobee doesn't have a leg to stand on in this one. He's a scratch golfer who in 2010 tried to qualify for the U.S. Open. Nonetheless, whether this showdown ever comes to fruition remains to be seen, but judging by the tweet Scobee sent immediately after the one above, he isn't expecting it to happen, but he was expecting plenty of wrath.
