It's been 2 years since my last fishing trip out of Los Suenos and since change is constant I wanted to ask the board if there any new or off my radar hotels to stay at in Jaco.

We plan on arriving next Thursday and will be staying for 4 or 5 days. I've stayed at the Casiones del Mar (which I liked), the Tangeri (had the big Grand Villa beside the road and was fine, I guess), the Best Western (to much like staying at a Best Western in the US). We're looking for something nice with a local feel, not Americanized.

I'd like to keep in the same price range (USD$110 - $150 per night) as the above.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Hal

The best place there is the Club Del Mar. However it is a little pricey. I like the Jaco Fiesta and the Cocal Hotel.

The Cocal is my personal favorite. Stayed here on my Honeymoom 12 years ago and we go back every year for our anniversary...... Its a small hotel with pool bar, nice rooms, right on the water with a few ocean view rooms. The nice thing is they have a fun little Casino so you can get trashed and your room is within CRAWLING distance. The only thing I always comment on when I go there is they do not have TV´s, but theres a plasma in the pool bar....

You will probably run into Viejo Diansaur there as I have managed to land there twice and run into him there at the pool playing backgammon........ I think they let him stay there for FREE!!!!!!

Probably Jaco or Tamarindo. The two beach towns with the most nightlife. The beaches aren't the greatest.
