Iverson could still probably be a decent 6th or 7th man to provide some scoring punch. The problem is that he still wants to be "the man." He's done unless he loses the ego.
POS Player???? Are you kidding? Iverson is one of my favorite players of all time. I'll be the first to admit that in the past he needed an attitude adjustment. However this is a guy who gave it everything he had whenever he played in a basketball game. Not Practice haha. His body has to be hurting by now, I've never seen a guy him as much effort as him early on. How many times do you think he's been knocked to the floor during a game? He's got my respect.
let me clarify, that i agree, in his time, Iverson was tough as nails, no doubt......on of the grittiest players for his size to ever play in the NBA....
Iverson was one of my favorites too. He should just retire though. His game just isn't suited to be a complimentary player. He has lost a step of two which prevents him from being the go to guy.
His situation reminds me of all the running backs being cut in the NFL. Lose a step or two without it even being totally obvious and you are pretty much done. For players who rely on athletic ability the edge is so small over the average professionals. Age or injury can turn a superstar into a role player in no time.
The official report is that he left due to issues regarding his daughter (she is sick but I'm not sure what it is/extent of her sickness). Yes, he played around 20 games and averaged like 14 pts/game.
I'm pretty sure that's it for him. You never know though.....
