The city of Cleveland sent Tamir Rice's family a bill for $500 for emergency services and $50 for mileage on the ambulance - the police did nothing wrong - but who the fuck sent this bill and thinks that it is acceptable?

CLEVELAND - The Mayor of Cleveland has apologized to the family of Tamir Rice, saying he is sorry for any pain caused by a $500 claim for emergency services sent to the boy's estate.

Mayor Frank Jackson and other city officials apologized to the family Thursday and told the media that the filing was made to Rice's medical insurance company as part of a routine procedure, but the bill was not intended to be sent to the Rice family.

City officials say the family was never billed directly for emergency services the 12-year-old received after he was fatally shot by Cleveland police in 2014.

yeah when the insurance company doesn't pay then the provider sends a nasty graham to the patient. if happens to me all the time. I go to the doctor, never get a bill and 90 days later I get a collection notice. I just make a phone call to the insurance company and it gets straightened out, I never had to go to the newspaper to get action.

i suppose when I die the same thing will happen, a bill will go to my insurance company and my estate will have to figure it all out. I hope they don't call the newspaper and radio station.

usually agree with you. but I think if I was them and received a Bill, I would tell the world.

Feel that it was tacky to receive it, and a slap in the face.

Those ambulance bills are generated by a collection company that most cities contract out. I'm sure it was harmless.

This case was about awful police work. If the cops think he really has a gun, why would they drive up to him and park 15 feet away? Is that really the proper procedure?
