he was following o'dowd his c. o'dowd was shoving anyone in front of him back 3 yards on every play. it happened twice before and it would have happened twice more. i don't think it would have made any difference if this td would have been called back but thanks for reporting this atrocity. reason enough for OSU to quit the NCAA.

No idea where his hand with the ball was a split-second before this shot. His arm may already been in motion moving backward after having been 8 inches forward for all we can gather from this image. One frame tells nothing.

true, but you have to admit the position he's in would make it very difficult for him have gotten into the endzone with the ball and then come out later in that position

you raise a good point, if given another play and thatw as 2nd down, certainly 3rd or 4th theyd have gotten in.....

if u read the original posters comment, this was ON FIRST TD , THAT WAS 4TH DOWN.......there wouldnt have been successive efforts.......this was a 4th down play

the original poster has this text prior to the picture

"This was 4th and Goal for USC's first TD".......any debate whether or not they would have gotten in on the following play doesnt understand the concept of what happens after failed 4th down attempts...lol.....

IE there is no "5th" down....lol

I can't remember who carried on the first few downs, but how do you guys know that this was 4th down? I thought it was a run on 1st, run on 2nd, pass on 3rd, run on 4th. But i can't really remember what I had for breakfast yesterday so I can't really trust that. How do you know this shot isn't 1st or 2nd down when the zebras said he wasn't in?

Everyone give Kevo a break maybe he cant see or not looking at the photo at all; It's clearly obvious he was not in. No doubt good post though! Thanks SuperChuck!

I know it was fourth down because of the shoes the O-Line have on; they always put those particular ones on during 4th down! There is always that person!

We really can't tell at all from this frame. He may have already gone over the line and be in the process of being pushed backward from all we can tell from this photo.

a simple picture can be spun any different ways, you have to see it frame-by-frame (before and after), no different than the red-light cameras

Was stated on the website that it was the 4th down carry and you can also see it on the ESPN screenshot.

Just posting this cause I thought it was interesting to see, obviously makes no difference now, just an interesting photo--and this was before he crossed the plane rewatch the replay for the doubters in here
