Damn. It was 10 degrees here north of Boston, midday. It's been snowing since last night. Expected to snow 'till midday tomorrow.

Global warming I guess.

Warnings

Parson's Pond - Hawke's Bay
3:54 PM NST Thursday 02 January 2014
Wind chill warning for
Parson's Pond - Hawke's Bay issued

Extreme wind chill values are expected tonight.

This is a warning that extreme wind chill conditions are expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A frigid Arctic airmass will remain in place over much of Newfoundland tonight. Very cold temperatures combined with brisk northwesterly winds will result in wind chill values between minus 35 and minus 41. Wind chill values between minus 35 and minus 39 are expected again tomorrow night over the Northern Peninsula.

Meanwhile a low pressure system developing off the American seaboard will rapidly intensify on Friday as it passes southeast of Newfoundland. Snow will develop late Friday morning in the south and then spread northward during the day. The snow will become heavy at times before ending late Friday night. Snowfall amounts will range from 15 centimetres over the Bonavista Peninsula to 20 to 35 over portions of the Burin and Avalon peninsulas. This snow will combine with strong north to northwest winds gusting to 80 km/h to give near zero visibilities in snow and blowing snow Friday night.

Already -21 with no wind and clear skies...it will hit at least -30 tonight.

I kid about it being 'painful'....I've lived this shit my whole life. I'm use to it.

How the hell do you keep your home warm when it gets that cold? I struggle to keep my house warm when the temp is around freezing. Usually try to keep the thermostat set on 70 but it just constantly runs.....I hate cold weather

Nothing special really...newer house(13 years old) good windows and the furnace set at 74. Many of the older houses up here are wrapped(completely) in plastic.

Someday it will happen....but I love MN, everything about it...well other than the taxes. But it you're an avid hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler like myself, there's no place else you'd rather be. Love Edina, got an Aunt and Uncle that live there. Have a great 2014.

HIBBING, my home town, born there. For a town of approx. 20,000, there are more "famous" people from there & associated w/it than anyplace I know of.
