its official . i could move to vegas and make a living playing 1/2 nl poker

just got back late last night .

played 45 minutes at ceasers and made 80 bucks .

played 4 hours at mgm and turned 200 into 750.

amazing how bad the play is at that level. i guess people figure they didnt travel out there to fold.

i played nothing but solid , patient poker and kept raking pots.

the calls i witnessed were nothing short of idiotic.

Yepper 1-2 NL is not that hard to crack. Thats my job when I get let go here in Michigan.

yup........i know many good players at their level that need 10k here and there........just be careful being the smartest guy at the table can pay off...........just not right away or consistently like a paycheck

Well the wife has the career I just have a job. She is the bread winner in this family. She is great at what she does. She is a very smart girl. I must have caught her at a weak moment when she said yes.

I also have a morgage and the house would sit on this market forever.

It's time to live my dream and give it a shot and see just how good I am.

I'll start at the 1-2 and build up a bankroll than move up to the 300-500 buy ins.

I agree with you. I will be in a position kinda like Ice. My wife has a very good job and this will let me try to build it slowly. The pressure won't be on me like it would be if she didn't have a job.

Also I have done damn good just doing it 2 times a month.

I would advise a person to accumulate a $100,000 bankroll before he even attempted to gamble for a living. I can run over almost any poker player trying to make living expenses. Especially at no-limit.

He claims you can make the most money with the smallest bankroll playing NL. He says a motivated player in Vegas can make 75k-200k a year playing NL $1-2. He claims someone playing weekend hours of 9pm-6am friday and saturday night can make $50-100 an hour playing. He calls this the "tourist" hours and says the games are very soft at this time.

Remember the size of your stack mean NOTHING in a NL cash game. Meaning big stacks have no advantage at all versus small stacks at the table. Fezzik plays a small stack strategy and feels this gives him a huge edge in the game. I am just reporting what he is saying. Keep in mind of all the people I have met in this town their is no question in my mind he is the most knowledgeable hard working one I have came across and it isnt even close.

I am studying my ass off right now doing this and will report back later but this is a venture I will pursue in the very near future. Believe me I am bottom of the barrel right now so I may be a good study at this.

What WNO reports is so true. I have not played at a hand yet but you wouldnt believe it until you watched the players. Everyone stays in. Like he said most come here to gamble and if you play patient aggressive poker you will have the advantage more times than not with these bad players. It's all about making better decisions than your opponents and that isnt hard to do in these particular games.

Interesting. What bankroll does he recommend for playing during this time? If you split the estimate and think you're EV is about $75/hour, that means your bankroll could be as small as a couple thousand.

especially when your opponents are drunk 1/2 the time ...

of course i dont think i could make a living after 5 hours of play , but i was amazed at some of the play . some real good players and a lot of horrible ones. i just sat there and shook my head wondering what some of these people were thinking .

I keep poker tracker running all the time and notice the other good online players avg about the same with some of the best around 10 BB/100. I can make decent money online because when I 8 table I can do around 350-400 hands per hour, but in a casino you can only do 1 table at a time and even if you could average 12 BB/100 which would be huge in the longterm, it would still only be $24 per hour......which ain't much of a living.

I am sure you know more than I do about this but first off the point is that online is 10X harder than the games in Vegas. I am pretty sure you would notice that right away.

Though not glamorus living $24 an hour does equate to 50k a year and that is more then the average person makes in the United States.

I am just giving you the info that I have heard. I have talked to a handful of people in this town who say the same thing. The Vegas poker scene is as soft as it gets according to most here.
