I like Reagan but he has been a mindless vegetable for the last several years. The funeral was so over the top it wreaked.

100% agree. and how soon we forget how much damage he did to this country's economy - and then tried to push it off on the democrats - despite the fact the republicans were in charge of congress and reagan had the LOWEST veto override rate in the history of the presidency.

If Reagan wasn't dead going into that farewell tour he would have been one tired dude afterwards....

It would have been class if Reagan had just said bury me and cut the bullshit. That way the funeral would of lasted 20 minutes.

My sentiments exactly 'Chuck. I think these elaborate funerals are idiots' way of trying to live on another day or two after they're gone.

Practically speaking, a fairly sizable waste.
But it has some innate way of healing the country and sqeaking out a few more votes for "Dumbya"

Thats why Bush is milking this for all its worth. The missing man formation was extremely insulting. That type of ceremony is reserved mainly for fighter pilots that give their life while on duty. Not for some 93 year old mental vegetable.

The Missing Man formation is often used at funerals, not just fighter pilots who died on duty. Chuck, how about knowing something about a subject before you write about it and show your ignorance?

Look I don't object to the use of the flyover, as it is customary and symbollic. But it was done several times. Geez.
What I REALLY object to is the complete fixation on this event in lieu of the more important problems we face each and every day. The media just went way overboard.

Shotgun, as a war vetteran I do know what I am talking about DUMBASS. Why don't you show your ignorance and tell us what the missing man formation is used for MORE than the death of a fighter pilot. I did say mainly which means mostly dumbass.

Chuck is a standup American.

It's too bad that trash like Shotgun have polluted our great country with their existance.

Let him rest already.

I just hope they don't actually remove a founding father to put his face on our currency.

Lincoln isn't a founding father; neither is Grant.

Of course the whole concept of putting men on the currency would have mortified the founding fathers, one reason why we only started doing it in the last century. Washington would literally kick all of our asses, probably in alphabetical order, if he could come back today, and the use of his image on the dollar and quarter would only be the icing on the ass-kicking cake.

Chuck, what is the deal with being a war veteran? Does that automatically give you some special knowledge that us lesser, peacetime veterans don't know?

The missing man formation is used to honor POWs, MIA, and just about high ranking government official (I think the official wording is 'dignitaries of the military and federal government'). Senators get one if asked. I saw one at Mel Carnahan's funeral when he was just the governor of Missouri. There was one for the kids that died in the Texas A&M bonfire, as well as the Columbine killings. You don't even have to die to have one...POW's often get one in ceremonies. They have them for Memorial Day shows, as well as various ceremonial events.

You see Chuck, being an admitted "war veteran" didn't make you any smarter. Have your facts ready before you throw out the DUMBASS comment.

Phaedrus,

In the report I saw on CNN the proposals were for the $10 and $20 bills.
