Don't know how much credit Goodell deserves for the NFL revenues. Seems to me, gambling and fantasy FB has driven up the interest, and Goodell hasn't anything to do with that. Most of it has come on TV contracts. Don't know if he's the main negotiator for those. I believe Bud Selig is a much better CEO as the baseball commissioner. And Stern took the NBA from having championship series games on tape-delay to a monster business. Goodell seems to be a mamby-pamby who inherited a cash-making machine.

Of course it is just a matter of time until he is done. We're all going to die eventually.

Other than that not sure your Goodell predictions have much accuracy to them as we saw a few months ago.

The NFL makes betwee 8.5 and 9 billion dollars a year in revenue, their business is doing fine.

a man who commits perjury in a legal hearing is not a good commissioner, he's a criminal

the commissioner has to be trusted by the players, a very key role for his position. He's not, he's despised

and almost everyone here has argued the NFL is a lessor product in recent years, and getting worse. how on earth can that be "good leadership"?

he deserves to lose his job

The commissioner is hired by the owners and the owners only care about revenue. Even though the product has regressed, it hasnt affected the sports popularity. The only thing that can cost Goodell his job is if the NFL loses its tax exemption.

Wrong again.

If it comes out Goodell lied about this Ray Rice deal, he's gone in a second. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

When it comes out that he lied (which we all know he did) its not going to mean a damn thing. The owners are printing money because of Goodell, they wont care.

Public/media pressure can do a lot. The outcry will be enormous. The owners will cave in. They will have to.

You guys are looking at it from a fans point of view, owners look at things differently. The only thing that will change is to stop watching or going to games. Are you prepared to do that until hes gone?

Really?

The CBA allowed Goodell to negotiate nine-year network broadcast agreements with CBS, Fox and NBC. As a result the league will collect $4.9 billion in broadcast revenues in 2014. More important, the NFL remains the only league that offers all regular season and playoff games on free, over-the-air television in the markets of competing teams.
Sports Business Journal reports that Goodell's salary amounted to $44.2 million for the 12-month period that ended March 31, 2013, making him the highest paid NFL employee (including players).
"Goodell’s compensation reflects our pay-for-performance philosophy and is appropriate given the fact that the NFL under his consistently strong leadership continues to grow," NFL owners Arthur Blank, Robert Kraft and Jerry Richardson wrote in a letter to their fellow owners.

Additionally:
Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson became so convinced that Goodell remained the best man for the job that he circulated a petition supporting him. This isn’t a coincidence. Richardson played a major role in the NFL’s 2011 collective bargaining negotiations with its players, a battle that Goodell and the league are widely considered to have won. So did John Mara of the New York Giants and Robert Kraft of the New England Patriots—two owners who were quick to say that Goodell’s job wasn’t in jeopardy and haven’t said anything different since.

PS: In 2013, the NFL realized an annual revenue of $9.2 billion, a $2.7 billion increase from 2006, when Goodell became NFL Commissioner.

You sound like you know a lot about this topic.

Dunno about public pressure. It is largely old news in the 24/7 news cycle. Don't think anyone cares anymore.

Also, for the 1000th time to anyone who thinks Goodell has much to do with the rule changes how clearly can we spell it out for you?

More scoring is correlated with more revenue. This has been happening since 1978, again in 1991, etc

If he's caught lying on this, it becomes a scandal. It becomes the commish of the most powerful sports org in the US lying to the public, owners and fans. He'll be forced out.

How would that be found out? The issue is pretty much over. The public outcry will be very little though, that story is yesterdays news.

I haven't kept up with that story for a little bit now so I really am just asking..

An investigation is still ongoing. 500 members of the NFL admin just had their phone records confiscated. The issue isn't over if there is a coverup.

Report shows NFL never saw video

"We found no evidence that anyone at the NFL had or saw the in-elevator video before it was publicly shown. We also found no evidence that a woman at the NFL acknowledged receipt of that video in a voicemail message on April 9, 2014," the report said.

The Associated Press originally reported that a law enforcement official showed the AP the video and played for it a 12-second voice mail dated April 9 in which a woman verifies receipt of the video.

Teflon Goodell squims his way thru again. Wonder how much it cost him and the owners to get this report from Mueller....they do what they can to protect the golden goose and the guy who has ruined pro football.
