A couple of blogs supposedly in the know are saying.

It's Gephardt

Just got some scuttlebutt, top Gephardt aide Joyce Aboussie has been sent a private plane to join Dick Gephardt for....one can only assume the announcement that Dick Gephardt will be the next Vice President Nominee for the Democratic Party.

UPDATE: If Aboussie is being flown out and ordering staff to be ready for a change, it's hard to imagine that it is anything, but gearing up for an announcement that he is the VP nominee. He and Aboussie are incredibly close and she is his right hand. Unless this is a bit of disinformation, this is the real deal.

Bland meets Blander...not a good choice in my opinion. Little Dick can't even carry Missouri for Kerry; he may get some union thugs excited but the rest of the haters?

I'm sure they all remember Gephardt's vote for Iraq right before the 2002 elections. They won't be happy.

Terrible choice. If he couldn't deliver for himself beyond his Mo. House District what will he do for Kerry? Nothing! Kerry was going to carry St. Louis anyway.

Union thugs might help in blue-collared PA ...

that's one of the big swingers in the Nov dance.

But as much as I like Gephardt, I agree, poor selection.

If it in fact does turn out to be Gephardt, I have to agree with you guys. According to Bill Clinton (on Larry King) the other night, picking a running mate is one of the few decisions a candidate gets to make on his own. If thats true, one would have to question Mr Kerrys decision making at this point. But we shall see.

This just rumor. It's not necessarily Gephardt and I doubt it will be. In fact you can get Gep right now +400 at tradesports. I have a feeling it won't be Gephardt, Edwards or Vilsack. It's going to be an surprise...

I wasn't asking you who it was going to be. Just what names you have heard for the sake of discussion. Bob Graham is another name I have heard.

There were rumors about one of the Congressmen from Ohio early on. I believe that was drawn from the idea that Ohio was one of a handful of key swing states ...

That would be a very narrow choice. Then again it is a narrow campaign. If Kerry wins PA, OH, and MI it is all but over and that is essentially where Gephardt can play his biggest role. If indeed this is his choice, then I have to think this is exactly what his campaign is thinking. As much as Edwards is the choice I would make for personality reasons, he really can only make Kerry more competitive in some states, but not carry any. Gephardt just might be what it takes to carry the three big union states and with it the election.

Drudge says Kerry's aides reported placards had been printed with three versions of the Democratic ticket: Kerry-Edwards, Kerry-Gephardt and Kerry-Vilsack, though they acknowledged that Kerry could still surprise even them with a different selection...

If it's Gephardt, Kerry is hiding from his duty once again. Taking a dive. Just giving four more to Bush...without a fight. Daddies ol' democrats are dying hard and fast.
