It's amazing how exciting ANY sport is when you have money on it...

Up until a couple of years ago the only sport I bet on was football (college and pro).

I started betting baseball 2 years ago and while I never really watched much (other than highlights on sports center) it obviously became more exciting with some coin on it. It's also one of the easier sports to win at imo. Baseball is still pretty dull though to sit through an entire game even with money on it.

This year I started betting soccer and before betting on it, I thought soccer was the most boring thing ever but if you have coin on it, a goal is about the best rush even more so than any TD I've ever seen. Never thought I would give a fist pump during a soccer game. The world GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL is universal apparently.

Bet some hockey this year, another sport I wouldn't consider watching but every once in awhile I will follow someone that has a good analysis. How bout that third period goal last night by the blues!

I also dabble on tennis and UFC from time to time if I get some good info.

I've also come to realize even while winning that I'm a complusive gambler and have to have action every day.

No point to this post but if beantownjim can go off on rants, I figure I can post useless knowledge too. Off to research futboll!

I spent most of Monday (European time) hoping for lots of rain in Pebble Beach - which is the most fun I've had watching a weather satellite.

Actually watching sports I don't find betting has any influence -- most exciting have all been games at White Hart Lane, and I rarely watch stuff I bet on unless I'd be watching it anyway.

Slide over to the Pony section and get some action. Horses sound like the only thing missing from your resume........

Start off playing Triples just pick 3 #'s from 1 thru 8 and play it straight for $2 in each race at any track and check the results. Lets try 457 at Northfield tonight....... (<)<

Come on Skoda you know you can't play Northfield without putting the #1 in there.

GoBlue this sounds like the beginning of being a degenerate. Now it sounds like you are betting sports that you have no clue about. Do you even know anything about soccer? So now you are going to bet on something that you don't even want to watch but since you have coin on it you will now watch it and try to like it. This sounds bad

It gets the game more exciting but also alot unhealtier for your heart. I always feel a bit exhausted after a game.

I'm learning more and more about soccer. That said, I don't just flip a coin and pick a team. I do a ton of research read on my own and read other write-ups before pulling the trigger, the same thing I do for any sport I bet. Soccer has a ton of quality information out there if you know where to look. I haven't had a losing day in soccer in over 2 weeks and I've bet on it every day. JINX!!!

While yes it could be bad, some of these "lesser" sports aren't followed as closely so easier to get an edge imo. Same reason most of my hoops plays are on the lesser conferences (like St Peters last night).

It could all coming crashing down soon but my numerous withdrawls lately aren't saying so!

I guess my point was these sports I'm finding an edge on are actually watch-able. But degenerate, absolutely! I did even book my first horse bet today but for a few bucks just because. I highly doubt ponies will interest me. Plus only so many hours in the day for research and my job starts to suffer if I add anything else.

One more edit, I look at gambling as I would as anything else in life, first and foremost a way to make money. And a fun way to do so.

Do you post your soccer plays? If you are hitting good, I might like to tail a few of your picks.

I don't post my plays at all in any sport (I'm not a prove yourself guy, mainly here to shoot the shit and read posts). Plus I might actually feel a tad bad if anyone followed and lost.

That said, here's a couple of plays I think they have some value (can't say they are 100% my plays but from reading and research).

France Ligue 1

Valenciennes ML Even Odds to beat SM Cain (looks like it's up to -111 on bookmaker). Valenciennes has only lost once in 9 games and at home. Bigger game for them. Cain not as good away.

Lille ML +125 to beat Le Mans UC 72. Lile hadn't lost in 9 games before last weeks loss and Le Mans has lost 10 of their last 13. Seems like a great value bet even though Lille is on the road.

There ya go, good luck to me or us if you follow. I have a few others but those are my biggest bets.

Thanks for the info. I will look at those two and see if I can pull the trigger on them or not. GL!

This is proof that allowing wagering is good for any sport and brings viewership/interest in that particular sport. For esample, there's a guy at another site who just smokes the books in Rugby, so there I am at 3 in the morning watching Australian Rugby of all things, don't have a clue what the heck I'm watching, but it's damn exciting as hell, and now I've watched a few Rugby games and it's actually one heck of a sport! Plus I'm winning money on this, so it's all great.

when you bet WNBA you have a problem LOL

see that's the common mis perception. why is betting on wnba a problem? if anything betting on the nfl is a problem. why bet on anything that you don't have any sort of edge on? with the wnba you are much more likely to catch a soft line then the Monday Night Football game during the NFL season. i think you got it backwards

Although I have never bet on the WNBA, I agree 100%. Look at how many people bet on a Monday night NFL game simply because it is on tv. I lay off that game more often then not because I simply don't have an edge.

Almost everyone in this forum can name the starting centers for 90% of the NBA teams, I can't name one in the WNBA but there are people out there than can and know if they are worth a shit or not. Then bet accordingly...

if you bet because the game is on tv, then you've got a problem.
if you can't watch a game on tv because you don't have a bet on it,
then you've got a problem. i hope you get the point.

I've been capping the WNBA for three seasons. Other than having to watch the games, it's the gambling highlight of my year.
