Today I bet Gordon over 30' points, reb and assist by accident. I intended to bet under. I made the play for the $550 limit. I tried to bet the other side and eat the juice to cancel out the wager but the software excludes that when you have bet the limit. I placed the wager before the 1st game even started let alone this game. When I saw that I couldn't cancel it out by betting the other side I called them. Obviously if they would have cancelled the bet I would have accepted it but I never asked for that. I requested that they let me bet the other side to cancell it and eat the juice. The answer was no. I have been a cust their for many years with a marginal winng balance I think. I was given no margin and said they don't cancel wagers(which I didn't ask) and they don't raise limits. I laid off half the bet and can get middled but the point is I wasn'r asking for any favors. They could have wrote a hand ticket for the cancelling wager and I would be happy. Do I have much of a beef. BTW I have praised this book many times over the years.

Randy - were you able to talk to management? Regardless it would seeem like you were not asking to much, essentially giving up wahtever the juice was to get off the bet. I doubt if you have a case, but it certainly would have been an easy matter for a well run CSD. to allow you to bet both sides, which imo. does not exceed the limit, as you are making two spearate, and different bets.

No you dont have a beef at all, just goes to show you that people running most of these books are morons I can see there software not allowing you to play both sides but to call and explain that you just wanted to get off because you made a mistake is idiotic they could overide it let you bet the otherside and they lock up 50$

Thanks Wil, It is the second time I bet the wrong side at I'tops because the way the props are set up sometimes the over is listed on the bottom (as it was in this case). The first time I didn't bet the limit and was able to take the other side online and eat the vig. I talked to the orignal cust serv rep and then spoke to their supervisor and that is as far as it went.

I can see not letting you cancel, better line somewhere else, better number etc but to not let you bet the other side is IDIOTIC if I were you Randy I would write them a email and let them know that you are very unhappy about this if you dont get a response pull your money out that will get there attention

SS - Sorry don't recall that incident, but am sure it happened. I mentioned in another thread (customer service) that it is important to be able to talk to management, by that I don't mean a CSD supervisor, who has limited authority. I can see in some cases where books need to be strict, but a degree of flexability is also required. imo. this was a case where any book would have been smart to use a little common sense and keep a good player happy.

you got a dumb clerk is what happened. at big books like INT if your not getting a good response from a clerk just hang up and try again, chances are the next one will do everything you ask. THEY DO cancel bets i can testify to that. they canceled one for me less than 2 weeks ago. they gave me the 3rd degree and the old " just this once" but they did cancel it. it wasnt for the limit however if that makes a differance

Seems like if I was Intertops and you were offering to pay me $50 for no risk, I would take it all day long.

randy- Intertops isn't an especially well run operation. Your offer to bet the other side so they could lock up the juice is something they should have jumped on but they're too stupid to figure out what you were talking about.

As you said in your post, the way they list their prices is pretty confusing. Whoever set up their site is probably the same rocket scientist that designed the Florida ballot in the last presidential election. I checked their soccer odds once and they have enough juice built into them to make a loan shark blush. There are much better places to bet with.

Over the years I have made this mistake with Hills, Lads, Pinny, Oly and several others. it is a fact of life if you are putting on hundreds of bets per month.

With NO exception, all have been okay to cancel the bet and let me bet the other side.

Never tried cancelling a bet with Intertops, but doesn't surprise me.

I like them, but their software is pretty bad.

Biggest gripe is that they specify the maximum amount you can lay, and it doesn't change with more juice. So if the max they will take on something is 1100, and it's at -110, okay, you can bet 1100 to win 1000. If the line is -120, you can't lay 1200 to win 1000, you can still only lay 1100. Pretty bad. Any the fact that the confirmation screen can't even do the math correctly is REALLY bad. Lay 2750 to win 2500 at -110 and the confirmation screen often says you'll get back 5249.97 or 5250.02 or even worse.

But, they do have different lines at times and sometimes don't move their overnight lines, so I still think they are an out worth having.

Good Luck,
Bart

I don't blame you for leaving them. There are better and more desirable outs than Intertops. I had an account with them long ago, but really have no desire to re-up until they can come close to competing with the big boys.
