I'm just saying, I think we could put it to better use while also teaching the donating folks a lesson. Rather than rewarding them for their stupidity.

I think after the total got past $150 anyone who donated after that level should have been immediately arrested And banned for life from the internet

Why is your focus on the donations though? The focus should be on the crooks that put the ball in motion.

That's the part of the story that interested me, that they could run that thing up to 400k. That's a hell of a hustle.

Imagine someone sees it is at 271k and is like "Hmm, I gotta get in on this"

The three people conspired to create a scenario where she pretended to run out of gas. The scenario involved the homeless guy pretending to give up his last $20 to fill her tank. They then contacted the press and the story went viral where people donated 400K via GoFundMe. Their goal was to raise as much money as possible then split the money.

But...the man and woman got greedy and didn't give the homeless guy his cut so he reported them.

He basically reported his own crime.

There's no honor among thieves.......you see it a lot in the movies, 3 guys go rob a bank, & one guy is greedy & decides to kill his accomplices.

Greediness got the better of the husband & wife, they figured the homeless guy won't report this crime.....they didn't think, hey he's homeless, what's he got to lose.

They really didn't have to do anything. Once it hit mainstream media, the money came flying in just like all these stories.

Not sure why Anyone would think this isn't illegal or a Crime, and with that Amount, Jail time in their future.

one charge is theft by deception, in NJ for that amount it's a felony. That crime alone carries up to 20 years
if found guilty do I think they will get 20 years ? probably not. But they Will get time

not sure about the conspiracy charges because it doesn't say at what degree. But at 2nd degree Felony would include jail time as well.

and after their criminal cases are done, you better believe Gofundme will go after whatever they own to recoup the money they are laying out to pay back people.

3 down on their luck gamblers meet in a casino and this is what they came up with? And it worked, until the 3rd wheel got hosed. Greedy mofo's.

Imagine what they could have done in life if they weren't degenerates.....@)

like real greedy .... if you are splitting up $400K 3 ways, after fees ( if any ) you probably walk away with $125K each, which the couple would have $250K
but instead they get super greedy and only throw the other guy, $10k ??

Even if you wanted to be a D*ck and cut him short, they should have started with $50K and then BS him for the rest

Having a Heroin Addict give his last $20 Should have been the Tip-off it was BS

They blew through $400k+ in 3 months the homeless guy only on got a small portion he complained and it unraveled
the good new is he won't be sleeping out doors and he gets 3 meals. like an upgrade from coach to first

To think...if all 3 had average IQ's they would have walked with 400k over a bullshit story.

This is why even giving to legitimate charitys can be sketchy because you don't really know who has their hand in the preverbal cookie jar. So many people have a rational for why their stealing is actually different and okay...
