He should have slipped away in his homeland, they should never have shipped him out.

So now the conspiracy theories will abound.

Arafat seemed frail as he left the West Bank last week

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IIMA -->Ailing Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's health has deteriorated, Palestinian officials say.

Mr Arafat is being treated at a military hospital in Paris for an undisclosed medical condition.

Palestinian envoy Leila Shahid told the BBC that his health had suffered a setback, but gave no further details.

Her statement followed rumours that Mr Arafat had been vomiting and lapsing in and out of consciousness, before being moved to intensive care.

Blood tests have already revealed that 75-year-old Mr Arafat has a low count of platelets, which are needed for clotting, but doctors are unsure of what is causing the condition.

Doctors' report

"Obviously in his case, there could be setbacks at times and this is a setback," Ms Shahid told Reuters news agency.

"Tomorrow [Thursday], the doctors will give a very clear and direct explanation and report on what is happening," she said.

Ms Shahid said she would give more details of Mr Arafat's condition at a news conference in Paris on Thursday afternoon at 1600 local time (1500 GMT).

Mr Arafat was flown to the French capital last Friday with a mystery illness from his headquarters in the West Bank town of Ramallah.

At the time, he was said to have collapsed after suffering from what was first described as severe gastric flu.

Doctors say they have found no trace of leukaemia or any other cancer. They have been checking for a viral infection.

Earlier, another senior aide relayed Mr Arafat's congratulations to US President George W Bush on his re-election.

"He hopes that Bush's second term will be an important opportunity for Bush to secure the requirements for peace in the Middle East and to guarantee the just national rights of the Palestinian people," said Mohammad Rashid.

Maybe he should strap an explosive belt on and try to sneak back to Israel....just like he did to scores of teen-agers living in the squalid refugee camps.

Belts smelts.

I'm hoping that Iran can enrich enough uranium by December so that the whole Mid East ballgame can go up in one big fat mushroom cloud in a single day, instead of being dragged out over more generations.

Then in 2000 years, Christianity, Judaism and Islam will be mysterious curiosities of a bygone age. Like Druidism.

There's only one realistic future for religion. extinction.

Anyone here miss Druidism?
No. I didn't think so.

Hopefully, they'll enrich enough for Europe as well. Don't forget that their newest version of Shahab can hit at least half of Europe (or so they claim).

After looking around a few sites, I see that they can hit eastern Europe only at this time. Maybe the North Koreans can help them out.
