They certainly have the pitching!

We'll see how LeBron err... Sammy Sosa handles the pressure...

I've always been a Cubs fan and grew up watching them. So I am very happy. You just know that Harry Caray is going to be watching this from Heaven, and hoping his Cubbies take it all. I'd also love to see our pal Samuel Sosa get a ring..

Also, why is everyone saying Bobby Cox should be manager of the year, when he had a great team to begin with. Why is no one mentioning good ol Dusty Baker, who came to chicago with nothing going, and won them a division...

And finally, is it just me, or am i missing something here. Why is Atlanta only -125 for the series against the Cubs. The Braves not only have the best record in baseball and have one of the best home records in baseball too, but the Cubs have the worst record of all the 8 teams in the playoffs. Meanwhile, teams like the NYY are -300 favorites over the Twinkies. Something is definitely wrong here boys. Can anyone explain why the Braves are only -125, and they NYY are over -300 fav.

Maybe it's just me..

The Braves are only -125 because the playoffs are far different than the regular season.

In the playoffs having 2 dominant starters is an extreme advantage - just as the DBacks proved year before last.

During the regular season, the Cubs bullpen blew many games and they lost most Games that Estes started. This while not be a factor in the playoffs because Estes wont be starting and the bullpen wont see much action. With Prior, Wood, and Zambrano doing the bulk ( or all ) of the starting pitching, the Cubs may not need middle relief much at all. Both Wood and Prior throw upwards of 110 pitches a game so they will go deep into these games.

The playoffs tilts a huge advantage to teams with 2 strong starters. The Cubs biggest weakness is their Bullpen and I dont believe it will be much of a factor with those 3 horses starting for the Cubs.

I can't see Wood, Prior, and Zambrano ALL losing in a row...

Also, Baker had what is arguably the best starting pitching in the game at the start of the season. NL manager of the year? Alou, then Baker...

castaway you are correct, they have some work to do to win the pennant!

The only thing I abhor is that the media will say its because of Dusty and I say its in spite of Dusty. They finallt went out and paid for the missing pieces and Dusty will get credit for it , when it was because of the management!

They'd better win because Dusty has mortgaged their future for now. The pitch counts on the three starters are very high. Arm woes in the future. Sooner , rather than later.

Dante - I agree...it's great to see them come this far...as they haven't done this in a long time.
So let's see if they can win it and go to the series...if they don't make it that's OK too.

In spite of what Eric17 above posted...Dusty is a good manager and I'm sure he helped them a little along the way, and yes it was management that hired Dusty and put the team together.

The Cubs are far from "finally win the pennant" Dante. They will get bounced by the Braves and the Cubs will be back to being called the loveable losers.

when a team celebrates a division title like they've won the world series...they usually fall flat on their asses.

blue, no way man I didn't see that at all. This team is all business. From the manager to a bunch of their players they have guys that have been there before and done that. They have their eyes on the prize. Some celebration was in order given that they were tied with 3 games left and had just won a doubleheader to clinch in front of their fans. It's not like they clinched with 3 weeks left in the season.

Seems that Pinnacle may be calling the Cubs to win the NL...Cubs to NOT win the NL at -346...hmmmm...
