Isn`t this the best Pacers team? Why shouldn`t they give the West trouble?

Maybe the Indy team that took the Bulls to 7 games was just as good....But with home court in the finals, Indiana should be able to do some damage this time...Last time around when they played the Lakers, the Lakers were much stronger than any West team is this year?

thoughts?

Best record in NBA and ever for the Pacers. Never lost 3 in a row and handled west trips just fine. Jermaine is top 5 player & Artest is Defensive MVP. Overall, Defense was very good.

I think the coach is just damn good. Larry made the right call as usual. He may be the Peyton Manning of basketball.

That doesn't mean they will win this game tonight.

I see one thing about Indy in tonight's game that I don't like(as I haven't watched NBA this year, and am seeing them for first time), and that is Carlisle is too heavy handed a coach, he is smothering his own bunch with crawlball every trip, and in doing so is helping Ron Jeremy's Heat greatly, as NO got transition buckets with much less than what Pacers posess.

Didn't RC see any of the Hornets blasting Miami 3 for 3 on their home floor with a beat-up Davis and nada else, by attacking them in transition, slash to rack, and the kickouts from paint?

Indy has the talent that the Hornets don't, but NO attacked, while Indy is playing patsy..Carlisle being outcoached thus far by Van Gundy.

Regardless of what happens in this series Stan Van Gundy will be a head coach in the NBA for a long time. This Heat team is gonna be real good real soon. Pacers up 11 with 3 minutes left.

Agree Wil, Van Gundy looks even better than his brother as an HC, and Wade/Odom is a heckuva 1-2 punch to build with.

As far as Indy competing in finals let them get there first. I don't make them any better than 15 cent favs over Detroit should the two meet in the East finals (very likely). Most likely they will open higher, but in my book they (Pacers) are small favs to beat tough, well coached, and very defensive minded Pistons.

once again - the pacers (pistons/nets) play in the WNBA - NOT the nba. NO WNBA team is capable of beating an nba team.

assuming the spurs beat the lakers - then whoever wins minny/sac - they will come a decent fave over the pacers - should they make it that far.

keep in mind if the pacers played in the NBA (a.k.a - the western conference) they would have been NO BETTER than a #5 seed - at that. when you have 2 teams make the playoffs in your conference that were so far under .500 they lost track of it - that tells me all i need to know about the conference.

for all those who think the pacers have a shot at winning the title this season - make sure you bet their side heavily so you can drive the price down on the nba team from the west that will clean the clocks of the WNBA champion pacers.

once again, i stand on my soapbox (as i tend to do waaaaaay too much) and let everyone know:

(L)eastern conference hoops SUCK. me, shrink, dante, the general and jenny (she is taller than angelle - so she gets on the team) could play in the WNBA (eastern conference) and we would make the playoffs - and be a heavy fave to win it. put us in the east and we are lucky to in 10 games.

i guess P.T. Barnum was right: Fools and their money can be parted - and will if they are dumb enough to bet on the pacers to beat the WC champs.

Pacers could give the west trouble, if they make it. Motown might a. beat them outright or b. beat them for 7 games. Either way, will be a mean, physical long series. Until somebody proves the west is not the best, they are. Spurs looking like best defense, best team in West. This Spur team might be better than last year's squad. Matchups between Pacers good on frontline, horrible backcourt. Right now Spurs would be 5/2 over Pacers in a Final. Not a Pacer hater, or an WNBA, I mean Leastern hater, but you have to pick the winner. East is long losing streak. Spurs over East in 6. Best wishes...OF

Speaking of WNBA, we are getting close.
