now people on other boards are bringing up first amendment rights

saying you have none if its a private site..

also someone brought up a good point about being liable

In regard to the freedom of speech issue, just FYI that in March the Supreme Court is going to hear a case that will decide whether web site owners can be held accountable for what their users do and say. The case is specifically about p2p file sharing but it will have a big impact on us in regards to things like libel.

It looks to me like the NYRA forum was discontinued by the NYRA. That would be equivalent to the Rx forum being discontinued by the Rx. Of course it could happen, and it probably would if the Rx stood to gain more from the forum being closed than open. But for now it seems the Rx stands to gain WAY more from it being open, so I wouldn't hold my breath for the forum being discontinued anytime soon.

First amendment rights deal with protection from getting fined or imprisoned based on things you say. They don't deal with your right to use a particular website or other media outlet to voice your views.
