I want sooooooooo very much for Bush to lose this election that I am thinking of doing something many of you will find absurd.
I am really thinking of going over to Pinny and putting a dime bet on Bush at - 120 just so that if he does win, I will at least have won a wager.
If he loses, it will be well worth 1200 to have him go back to his ranch.
Does any one else think of doing this. I figure I will win at least something on election day.
The wager will NOT change the way I vote, and I still hope that Kerry wins.
Give me your feedback on this idea of mine.

If you play in order to earn money, then it is not a stupid thing to do. Mr. George W. Bush is going to win the election, so you will gain $1000. You can be sad about JohnKerry losing, but at least you will have an extra grand to toss around whilst you go through the five stages of depression. Godspeed, thepig.

Might be a good way to recoup some of that $3000+ that each household lost in our effort over there.....but then again our grandkids and greatgrandkids will probably end up paying that one off...

Can always count on nation building running up a hefty tab and sending that tab to future generations....so thoughtful....

Marco, thank you for pointing out what agreat value we have gotten! Only $3000 to ensure that we have a household to come home to, rather than one that has been blown to smithereens by a wild bunch of islamists. And we get to stay alive also, and our children too! Good thing so they will be around to pick up the tab. I also suspect that my household contributed $6000 or $9000 to the effort and some households didn't contibute any, That is ok though, I'm all for Liberty, and that is a small price to pay. Godspeed, thepig.

Nothing absurd about making money Sonny....buy in now and you'll probably be able to buy back some Kerry at +135 if you so desire.

Glad that you actually feel safer now, pig...more than I can say for how I feel...

"And we get to stay alive also, and our children too!"

Guess that all depends on whether your family was among the 1000 or so who had someone die over there trying to install democracy in a place where war and instability has been the norm.

"That is ok though, I'm all for Liberty, and that is a small price to pay."

Needless to say, it's not a small price, and the paying is not done....maybe you feel safe right now, but when the day comes of the next terrorist act....I say "when" because it's only a matter of time....when the next bus that blows up is on American soil killing Americans, then you will wonder and be a little outraged as to why there is time and money to build an infrastructure in some oil rich country at the same time as ours is getting blown apart. It won't surprise me one bit.

If we're out there to hunt terrorists, then hunt them down. Make the world a safer place. Forget about all this nation building in places where they can afford to build thier own nation up using the gift of oil....we help them out and all we get in return is ingratitude...I say pull out and let thier civil war begin...all we're doing is delaying the inevitable....

I really should put a load of money on Bush....seems to me if he wins we stay over there and multiply this mounting debt that is being raised....then if Bush wins at least I can double my money and create a washout after losing the post-up to war expenses and those worthless nation building taxes....maybe actually turn this thing into an overlay.....if I just knew what Kerry was going to do over there if elected...then I could figure out the specific dollar amounts....

I would gladly die for liberty. We must not forget the lessons that history has taught us about what appeasement delivers. standing by and hoping these evil bastards go away isn't going to do any good. I am proud of our great nation and its soldiers who are taking the fight to the enemy. We have likely prevented countless attacks on our soil. It will be unspeakably awful if we are attacked again, but we are doing the best we can to prevent this.
We get to stay alive, and our children too, because of the heroic efforts of our great soldiers. Those that have passed in this effort are to be revered and honored. May God bless their souls. Marco, there is no price to high to pay for liberty. Godspeed, thepig.

sfeiner....my comment about Kerry was basically that if we are going to "stay the course", or do the same worthless $hit as Bush, if Kerry is elected, then of course this whole thing is going to cost billions of dollars more, regardless who is president......then you could forget about betting to try to save some dollars because they will get spent anyway....

I don't "support" any candidate in this election.....as far as when you say "then again you do know one thing he'll do....LIE".....

That "lying" part goes with the territory and is a major prerequisite for holding political office.....pardon the cynicism but there is a lot of lying going on with both parties and even more to come from whoever gets elected....I don't see this election changing the grand political tradition of lies and corruption....."stay the course" will apply in this arena also....

...only thing that an election does every four years is prevents a monarchy....

A2345exxx, Sir, Liberty is the condition of being free from restriction or control, the right and power to act, believe, or express oneself in a manner of one's own choosing, the condition of being physically and legally free from confinement, servitude or forced labor. In a word, it is freedom.
When one comes to take your liberty, you have a moral obligation to stop them, and if need be kill them.
Lander, Mr. Bush is not my hero, though I do admire and respect him. Based on your flag of France flying, you've no qualifications to come in here and talk to me about protecting and defending liberty. Interesting that George Bush works to protect your liberty as well as mine. Nobody in France is doing anything to defend liberty, but its ok for you to sit around and bitch about us doing it. Godspeed, thepig.
