I know this isn't a huge deal.. I just love his many gambling references.. 2 so far tonight that i've caught

"they covered"
"ohh.. theres a certain number in play tonight and its 38.." after Mares missed field goal

I doubt he bets on the monday night games... cuz that would HAVE to affect his announcing.. it would mine..

Knowing the spread on a game is no reflection of one being a bettor. My father asks me for odds all the time on sporting events, but never gambles on sports.

If we knew the amount of sports casters, players, refs, or anyone else affiliated with sports games who BET we would be amazed! Whether its themselves or through a second or third party! Horse racing Forgetboutit, lol, asked Carmine Abbatellos brothers if horse racing is fixed, lol!! And how much money his brothers made on him at Yonkers in the 70's,lol!

Is there a point to be made one way or the other concerning IF he bets on football or not?

Maybe it has become a question like getting an auto insurance quote or a credit card?
Do you bet on sports, etc.??

Come to think of it,used to be each year of the World Series; the mayors of the cities would wager something against each other and the newspapers and television-radio announcers would say what it was. I don't remember hearing about it at all this year. I guess they are all trying to become politically correct--and damage our youth!

He also mentioned, "The odds of there being the majority of fraternity boys here tonight has got to be 3/5 in Vegas"

Gotta love Al...........

I think near the end of the game he also asked Madden what he thought the "OVER/UNDER" is on how late the students on the ASU campus will stay up drinking...1:30-2:30am?

Well in the early 1920s the World Series was in scandal...due to 8 players who betted on the game themselves....that was just before the Babe Ruth era..

I don't know if Al Michaels bets on the games he broadcasts, but I know one guy for sure who bets on the games he broadcasts.. And that person is....

I've heard the same thing about ESPN, they gamble their asses off. Did Winky work there? I didn't know that...

As JLS posted, if only thru 2nd and 3rd parties, or on the QT, most would be surprised at the numbers of players, coaches, umpires, refs, team doctors, dads/relatives of collegians that use the info and insider knowledge they have to wager..hell, it(wagers by particuliar parties) shapes many of the moves/drifts on certain teams & games weekly.

Or is anyone naive enough to think that all those ex-NFL guys at Vegas Super Bowl parties or representing Touts and Offshores, just suddenly came into the world of wagering after they exited the door as a player for the last time?

A few astute Book Managers that frequent the RX could verify that certain un-named customers with peculiar last names shape their numbers at times, as almost any local BM here can verify that a team doctor, collegian's dad, cousin,etc..can often serve up a Large press play with nice info or by choosing to make a monster bet.

The proliferation of Offshores have allowed for faceless and nameless 2nd and 3rd parties to post up as whales, while I'm sure quite a few pros(athletes not wiseguys) are the money played via their bearded buddies.

Insider Trading isn't just on Wall St..it's anything with a dollar attached to it!

This just in. (Inside scoop) Michael Jordan --bet huge amounts on golf. Some pro hockey player LOST a huge amount with Carib.

Oh yeah--I even heard that Rush Limbaugh did drugs?? Nah nothing to any of it!
