Americans have short term memories, assuming the economy turns around his approvals will rise again.

I don't think any individual politicians approvals have gone up since January.

of course, things can and do change

maybe "individual politicians" show no improvement, but the GOP has at the expense of the Democrats

One could argue the GOP had nowhere to go but up.

I think these numbers are overblown.

I also think those that say the GOP is dead aren't looking at history. There will be a regression for Dems in the midterms, there had to be. They hold way too many seats in the house, which includes a lot of historically republican seats where they were merely keeping the seat warm for a few years. The Senate has more variables to determine anything at this point.

538 and rcp are saying the dems will have more then 60 seats in 2010.

71% say his policies have driven up the deficit???? Hell he would even admit that.....that 29% would say no just shows how many GTC's we have and how hopeless the situation is...

(CBS) While Americans have become slightly more optimistic about the economy, they continue to have overwhelmingly negative perceptions of the current economic situation overall, a new CBS News/New York Times poll finds.

But while 82 percent of those surveyed say the economy is in fairly or very bad shape, just four percent blame President Obama, who has now been in office for slightly more than six months.

Instead, they blame the administration of his predecessor, George W. Bush (30 percent), Wall Street and financial institutions (29 percent), and Congress (12 percent).

Mr. Obama is seen as a better steward of the economy than Republicans in Congress. Asked who will make better decisions on the economy, a majority of those surveyed (56 percent) cited Mr. Obama. Just one in four pointed to Congressional Republicans. Still, Republicans have gained some ground here: In April, 63 percent said Mr. Obama would make better decisions.

there is no way Obama's policy will turn this economy around. we are still losing 500,000 jobs per month. his spending will REQUIRE TAX HIKES ON MOST OF US. forget a turn around during his term.

Is there any poll good for Obama?

Just did a fast survey among residents in our house and it was a solid 100% YES in response to:

Are You Still OkeyDokey with Obama/Biden instead of McCain/Quitter?
