Is there any advantage or disadvantage to making Mozilla my "default" browser?

I use Mozilla now allmost exclusevly, because mlb.com audio will not play correctly on internet explorer. Also, I asked Spysweeper in an email if their program would continue to work properly with Mozilla. They answered that it would work and that IE was the most vulnerable browser. Now I want to be carefull, because every time I make some major change to my computer, I seem to end up creating another problem!! When I click on the icon to open Mozilla--there is a box which is checked telling me that Mozilla is not my Default browser, would you like to make it your default browser? Yes or No? It has a check mark to ask the next time the same question. I keep hitting the No button, because I don't know what else might happen inside the computer, that it isn't telling me about!
Does anyone here know exactly what happens. I don't want major problems by clicking Yes.

OMT, nothing bad will happen; default browser means just that, when you browse the net you'll be using the browser you've chosen and when you click a link the new page will open in Mozzila instead of IE. If you use Mozzilla all the time by all means change the sttings to reflect it as your default browser.. You can always change it back when ever you want just by using IE again, it will ask the same question.

Well, I changed it. Working ok for the most part. On the Favorite menu that is part of the Start bar, when I click on a fav.--it tells me that the favorite doesn't exist or that windows can't find it--then at the same time goes to the Mozilla Favorite page (which is the same), However, I don't see any option from IE to make that my default browser. So--I hope Mozilla continues to work well.
I think IE is a part of the Microsoft Family and of course came with the computer. Mozilla is "free". And I'm hoping STAYS that way.

I find Mozilla to be faster than IE. But I think it mostly depends on the website.

One thing I have found out is that to play the Yahoo live audio college football broadcast, I MUST use IE, because that's the only way it will play.
