If, like I do, you believe they are, then there is a great opportunity to make some big money this season. Everyone lines up like sheep to bless the SEC West and declare them the best division in College Football, but that is simply not the case. Need proof?
Last season the SEC West teams made their mark by defeating a lot of cream puff non-con teams and beating up on themselves. LSU's 4 point win over Wisconsin (the same Wisky team that was dismembered 59-0 by Ohio State in their CC game) was about as good as it got. Then these teams beat each other up. The proof came when these teams got their tails handed to them in their Bowl Games, going 2-5. The two teams that finished the lowest in the SEC West were the two teams that won.
Now all seven of these teams are ranked in the Top 25. Are you kidding me? Let's look at Mississippi State. Cream puff non-con games at Southern Mississippi, Northwestern State, Troy, plus a home game against Kentucky should give them 4 wins, but then what? Who do they beat? Even La. Tech is not a sure fire win. Prescott is back, but his O line is not.
Ole Miss is in about the same shape. 4 cream puff non-con games plus Vandy at home give them 5 wins, but who do they upset? These two teams are NOT good teams. They would not finish in the Top 5 of the Pac 12 South, and maybe the Top 4 of the Pac 12 North.
Depending on the lines, here is who I look to fade early in the SEC West. Alabama (currently -13 1/2) vs Wisconsin. Auburn (currently -12 1/2) vs Louisville. LSU (current unk) @ Syracuse. I am looking to get 14+ points but will probably not get that. Ole Miss vs Fresno State. (looking for 21). Miss. State vs La. Tech (this may be a Tech + ML play).
