Aloha everyone, I been around for about a year, and I have been at other forums and have viewed other places. I have to definately say that the Prescription is the BEST. The Cappers are very knowledgeable and helpful to those who needs help.

I was just curious how the other sports forums ranked compared to the Rx in number of members and popularity. Also in growth. Does anyone know this information and wouldn't mine sharing. Aloha CC.

I think the RX ranks near the TOP, but others are growing, I think ALL forums have there qualities no matter how big or small. You can find alot of info in ALL of them.

I would make the contention that this isn't a sports forum at all but a gambling forum. Specifically sports-gambling.

To me a sports forum is geared around fans and not students of the numbers. Further to that point sports forums are far more popular then any site like this (mine included) because they have mainstream backing and above all, there are more fans then there are bettors.

Aloha

Michael, you know what I mean by sports forum. But thanks for informing others less knowledgeable on the difference. Anyway, I like to call it sports investing forum. Are you going to supply any answers to my questions, or were you just here to give us an education on the difference between a sports forum and a sports gambling forum. Aloha CC.

Not really qualified to answer beyond what I did CC. I don't use the RX for handicapping, I use it for the industry info I can gather sometimes so I can't really say about the depth of the cappers here.

It's important to distinguish the difference though IMO. A regular sports fan wouldn't have a clue what was going on around here if they were to read some of the posts. In terms of traffic and number of posts I would say that MW and Covers are both coparable to this one on the gambling front.

CC,
I can't say for certain that the RX is the best, but I can say that everyone involved does their absolute best to make it a little better every day

how can it not be the most populated forum? show me one forum that gets half the posts and threads started by this many unique users

the best? show me one forum with better software and as good of a layout and homepage. there isnt one.

RX population #1
web site #1
web site ease of use #1
intangibles (articles, policys etc) #1
unique advertisers #1
quality of advertisers #1
overall #1

etc etc etc #1

and besides what other site goes so out of its way to help you settle disuptes?! that fact right there makes them head and shoulders above the rest.

It depends what you're looking for. This forum probably has the most sharp posters and veterans in the business who like to talk about book etc. Covers.com has a better collection of your typical degenarate weekend online gamblers looking for locks...not that there's anything wrong with this -- in fact, this is the type of customer the books are really trying to attract. So while I think this site has more to offer the sophisticated online sports bettor, covers.com probably has more to offer an advertiser in terms of attracting to them the kind of customer they are looking to acquire. I would also say Covers has more unique visitors than RX does, though I could be wrong about that. All IMHO.

db2bets, i think you are wrong about covers. I have spoken to a friend of mine who owns a sportsbook who said that he did much better with the RX in terms of bringing gamblers to his sportsbook. As far as clicks, who knows? From my perspective, this site has very very good handicappers sharing information. I have checked the other boards, and i seem to find handicappers here who are so good that they are killing the tout business. Co-captain, i agree with you that there are alot of great people like yourself who share winning information about their favorite conference or team. this in my opinion is where a lot of people are missing out. They spend all day in this forum playing a he said she said, when they should really be taking advantage of the great info in the handicapping section. good post co-captain, and let's continue to help each other win!

You have to remember that there really are no "sharp" forums. I would say www.sharpsportsbetting.com is the sharpest forum but that is only because it's a small group of educated bettors. The large majority of bettors at the RX lose despite what they would have you think.

tekari, i disagree with you. I think that these forums, like anywhere else, consist of great guys along with morons. If you look into the posts in the handicapping section deep enough, you can find real talent, and some really profitable angles including injuries, weather, etc. Tekari, i do agree with the fact that there really isn't a TRUE ONLY SHARP forum anywhere. If that existed, none of us would have to work.

Weekendalki,

What I was really getting at is that with as large of a forum as therx is, there are bound to be some sharp people and good info if you dig, but the majority of people are total squares, and that books aren't worried about acquiring too many "sharp" players from therx. I thought I read an above post about how customers from covers would be more valuable than from therx and I don't think books view it like that. Im sure customers coming from therx have made the sportsbooks rich

Take the time to search the various sports forums, use your head, and try to identify the posters who know what they are talking about. I naturally have paid a lot of attention to Offshore, but the real money making information is in the sports forums. For example this thread http://therxforum.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=100090022&f=4933006845&m=98210728 by the poster Cariscol from the soccer forum, is what I mean. Great stuff in lots of threads, you just have to follow closely and see for yourself who the sharp guys are. I don't neccesarily mean clear cut simple bet-me picks, but stats, reasons, trends, and informed thoughts to back up an opinion.

GL. all tonight. wil.
