Blue, I'll swear on a stack of bibles that I'm sure. I think there is good in all religions and all their readings...Qu'ron (sp?), Holy Bible and etc. I focus more trying to do good for mankind and enjoying life. It doesn't take a Bible to do that IMO.
Think about how many have died just today in the name of "GOD". I always keep a couple of copies of the "Holy Bible" on hand...you never know when you'll run out of shit paper. If you stop all the conflicts right now that were based on religion, race, or creed, and nothing else, what a peaceful world it would be. Here's a bit of trivia for ya...What's the difference between the latest Harry Potter book and the "New" testament?.....Not a fukin' thing!!

razz, i spent many years as a skeptic (and an angry one at that). i asked all the common questions:
if there is a God, why is there so much suffering and evil in the world?
why is christianity correct and everything else incorrect?
why should i believe the bible? who wrote this thing?
what about evolution, the dinosaurs, the big bang, etc.?
no one i knew could answers these questions for me. then i looked into it on my own, with an open mind and was pretty shocked at what i found. i read books, went to debates between christians and aethists, studied the evidence for the accuracy of the bible and the account of Christ's resurrection and i was convinced. it took about 1 year.
my faith is rooted in evidence not in a strong desire to believe with the heart that which one knows with the mind not to be true.
the points you raise about people dying in God's name used to trouble me as well. the christians who "converted" jews and muslims in the middle ages during the crusades by torture and threats. the catholic preists who sexually abuse young kids. islamic fundamentalists who slam planes into new york buildings. these are all faith-wrecking things. but, you have to make a distinction between God's truth and people who do things in the name of God.
someone somewhere sometime discovered nuclear technology. it could be used for good (energy, etc) or bad (bombs).

blue, thank you for taking a stand for the Bible, I am a true believer.... the difference between Christianity and every other form is religion is that one can enter into some form of heaven or nirvana by way of his own good works,, the bible teaches us that all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of the Lord and that none are perfect in God's eyes, and that Jesus is the only Perfect one -- who set the standard of perfection as the requirement for Heaven,,,, and since none are perfect this is why.. "you and I need Jesus,,, thank you brother...

I also cant believe some of the comments in this thread and yes gringo, i can answer most of your questions... dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible, read the book of Job,, the main problem science has with the Bible -- is this concept of time,,,,, ill ask you a ??? why did God take 7 days to create the world when he could have done it in the blink of an eye.... There are infallible proofs in the new testament writings that prove it is true.. I could list them if you want or answer any ?? Dinosaurs were created and lived at the same time as man, i believe there are footprints of both in texas.. the flood is also a big stumbling block to science..

From the time we have had the Bible, people have tried to discredit it. No one has been able to prove it is a fabrication. It has stood the test of time and it says by Faith and that is the way I am going to take it. There is no doubt in my mind that there is a God and that I trust in the true one.

there was a famous man once (name slips me), who was asked to prove the Bible was true using 2 words and he said "The Jews".. think about it, less than 1% of total world population and they control and are tops in their fields in so many areas.. they are the only people (ever) to remain a people for 2,000yrs without a homeland, hebrew is the only language that was ever DEAD and now is spoken by 4 million Jews.. have you ever met a moabite, an amorite, a caanaite, a philistine (no) but you have met a Jew.. a nation will be reborn in a day people and it was may__ 1948.. ask yourself why,, there are promises and prophesis to be fulfilled.. id love to discuss this in a non combative format and tell you why i know there is a God and Jesus Christ is his son and how he is alive today and wants to give You everlasting and eternal life..
