What's a Canada? It's not a real country is it. I mean how can the English and the French live together?

Does anyone REALLY KNOW what time it is? Does anybody really care?

I haven't seen very much of the country. My take is they are liberal, peaceful, and open to Americans.

The country is nearly as large as USA, with like 10% of the population, clean, people don't lock their homes, and arm themselves. They have natural resources, GOV"T leaves you alone, sounds good to me ! Gambling OK ! A lot of taxes, property cheaper, less crime, almost like 1950's USA in some respects !

The only real knock i've heard against Canadians ( from a former LV bartender's point of view) is they tend to be parsimonious when it comes to tipping. I'm considering moving there.

Doug--I am thinking of it myself. What do you know about the taxes ? Figuring American Dollars get more Canadian Dollars in return--do they pay more taxes overall than an American?

Also, from what little I have read and even less of that which I understand; their laws (similiar in some ways) tend to be "fuzzy" on internet wagering. One side of town ok across the street--a NO-NO! Sora like the US States.

Not quite right guys. Internet Gambling in Canada is not legal. Nor is it specifically illegal. There is no statute that adequately covers online gambling because of the ambiguity of jurisdiction regarding where the transaction takes place.

There is no equivalent to the US wire act for law enforcement to try to hang prosecutions on, but there is the commonlaw concept of 'aiding and abetting'. One school of thought in Canada on this topic is that all forms of gambling in Canada, exept those that are specifically regulated, are illegal. This is true. Casinos and bingo halls and provincial lotteries are regulated and legal. Making book is not legal, because it is not regulated. However, a very compelling argument can be made for the idea that the gaming transaction occurs in San Jose, or Curacao, etc., not in Canada.

There has been no case to test these positions, and there is neither will among law enforcement nor legislation to enforce that make a test likely.

So, until this happens, internet gambling in Canada is neither legal nor illegal.

True in some parts of Canada, not so in others. $136k Canadian won't buy you an outhouse in Vancouver.

In the prairies, maritimes, suburban Quebec, Suburban Alberta, Rural BC, 100 dimes will get you somewhere still though.

true TOUT, you are right, in Toronto Neither.

I actually live in Quebec, in Gatineau, just over the river from Ottawa... I bought the house there as it is cheaper in QUebec than Ontario...

It is beautiful though, backyard faces the 17th hole.

Actually even in my area value is about 200K Canadian now...

Everyday things are pretty cheap however, clothes etc etc... especially when factoring it exchange rate...

TAXES HOWEVER ARE RIDICULOUS.

Most of the online gambling servers are located in Canada. I think they are located in the Kanawake territory or something like that.

How the hell could it not be legal there?

YES WAY MORE...

But we have Free health Care & better benefits than Americans...

June 23rd was Tax Freedom day for Most Canadians... meaning that everything they earned from Jan 1 to June 23rd was for Taxes & everything from June 23rd to Dec 31 is for yourself.

Online gambling servers "located in Canada"

But not "legal or illegal"--I think I said "fuzzy" like the US. LOL

SportsSavant-Thanks for the info. I have an online "friend" that I email in Canada about health issues and I have to say overall--doesn't sound bad at all. But some things I have to take with a grain of salt as he is a health care professional.

The servers are on a native reserve...technically not Canada as they have their own laws, own police etc etc etc...

Yep, in the short term it does have an effect.

Nothing can change my mind, because that is fact.

Your theory on what happens in the long term is correct though. Also mind you I was talking about blackjack being played with a shoe consisting of several decks, not just one.

you are absolutely right... it does affect in the short term...

HOWEVER...

There is a 50/50 chance on wether there error will help you or wether it will hurt you.. ie it is not more likely that there poor play will hurt you...

anyway we have beaten this to death in the BJ thread...

cheers
