Kelly has a record of 225-78-2 having coached at Grand Valley State, Central Michigan,
Cincinnati and Notre Dame. Notre Dame is currently ranked #4 with a 9-1 record.

Welcome your thoughts on how Kelly ranks with the great coaches like Saban, Meyer,
etc......................

He's Ok...not great by any stretch yet. Has done more with ND than most coaches could. I think
if he was at an easier place to coach he could be great, maybe an all time great.

Loomis, my view is Kelly is better than OK...I think he's a damn good coach. I agree he's done a nice job for ND considering that the Irish can't dominate recruiting like they once did.

Notre Dame needs to join a conference in my opinion...but they ain't going to give up that $15 million a year NBC TV football money.

ND could easily dominate recruiting if they didn't have the academic/moral standards that they do.

ND needs no conference at this point but they would make MORE money from tv if they did...a simple fact many don't know andf the haters ignore.

I think we agree on Kelly....

I agree that he's great. Would be interested to see what he'd do at a powerhouse like Notre Dame but without the academic restrictions.

Notre Dame's dominance in recruiting is gone....repeat gone. A few years ago, the
Irish could recruit from all 50 states. No more friends.

Kids today know little of ND's history and don't care.

How many "black athletes" in high school have a poster of the Fighting Irish on their walls.

That day is long gone.........................one reason I favor Kelly as a coach.

Still do..... And target good athletes who want an education...sadly not many black athletes want to "play school" so those are already out the door.

What "few" states do you think ND recruits from?

Ok, how about Nevada, Idaho, Indiana, Penn, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Texas, Louisiana.

Less compare today to Alabama: Florida, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri,
Louisiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, Washington, Alabama.

You telling me Notre Dame can recruit nationally like they once did when little bittie Alabama
used to draw from four states under Bear Bryant? Mainly Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia.

That old crawfish won at least one or two national titles as I recall. Times they are a changing!

Sure am telling you that.
ND has players from more different states than Alabama easily.

We aren't out to recruit against Alabama...not sure where you're going. They should control the South...which is where most of their players come from and a hotbed of talent. ND has to go nationwide to get those 3,4 and 5 star kids who value an education

Followed Kelly's career since he was at Grand Valley St. He may have done his best coaching job this year. Not many teams could succeed with all of the injuries that ND has endured.

I think he's a great coach and one to hold onto no matter where he coaches.
